Elriel Month 2025 🌸 Prompt: Peace & Quiet

This was such a wonderful commission, and I am so grateful to my co-commissioners for helping me make this happen—and to @tpiola_ (IG) for working on this with us! We had a hard time finding a good reference at first, and she was so kind and helpful in translating a verbal description to this gorgeous art! Thank you a million times over!

We really wanted to capture the comfortability Elain and Azriel have always had, even from their first meeting. I’ve always thought that both Elain and Az would be great huggers, so what better to commission for the @elrielmonth Peace & Quiet prompt than the two of them in an adorable embrace. 🥰 The soft purple-pink dusk setting is so perfect for Elriel, and I’m honestly never recovering from how adorable they are in this art!

viv and kali didnt know they were mates after being in love. they found out during their marriage day. so what makes you think gwynriel cant be mates?

Thissss is exactly why we question the Elucien bond. Viv and Kallias loved each other. They chose each other. And then they were mates.

Feyre and Rhys chose each other. Loved each other. And the bond snapped into place.

Nesta and cassian loved each other. Chose each other. And the bond snapped into place.

Bryce and Hunt loved each other. Chose each other. And they are mates.

Rhys’s parents? Automatic. Didn’t know each other. Didn’t love each other.

Lucien and Elain? Automatic. Didn’t know each other. Didn’t love each other.

Kallias was protective of Viv. He ensured during Amarantha’s reaping she was safe.

She realized what Kallias was to her. “Protective of her to a fault.”

He told her he loved her. He knew he loved her the entire time.

This is in line with our theories that true bonds involve choice. Love and Choice and then Bond.

You all claim the mating bond snapped in the bonus. Or that the shadows know and won’t tell Azriel. He doesn’t know he has a mate and doesn’t show mate behavior towards Gwyn. Kallias showed mate behavior towards her. He loved her since childhood. He protected her- to a fault. He was taken under the mountain. She realized he was her mate- she never stopped loving him. This bond was not instantaneous.

Alas, this is exactly what we mean.

since everyone thinks the feysand bonus chapter mentioning the enchanted gloves means elucien is endgame. I would like to take a moment to actually look at the context of the scene :)

gardening -> what elain thrives doing

getting one's hands dirty -> results in the garden flourishing

the gloves -> stops her from doing that

and lets not forget the abysmal reaction elain had to the gift. if she'd reacted that way to azriel's necklace I honestly do not think I would still be an elriel but to each their own I guess

with all the shouting from the other side I think if we just take a step back and look at the books we'll find that the crumbs are there all along and we just need to wait for the main course :)

The Blood Duel

SJM mentioned it twice in the ACOTAR series. Once in ACOWAR, when Feyre asked Rhys about mating bonds. Note: It was already about Elain, Azriel, and Lucien. Feyre questioned the validity of the mating bond between Elucien.

And once in Azriel's fabulous bonus chapter. Here, Azriel questions Elucien's mating bond and even his religion. In this context, Rhys mentions the possible blood duel if Azriel continues to pursue Elain.

It's written in black and white in the books.

The unbiased reader draws the correct conclusion. If there is to be a blood duel, it will take place between Azriel and Lucien. Lucien would (unsuccessfully) attempt to defend his honor as Elain's mating partner by challenging his rival (Azriel) for Elain's heart to a fight.

And yet there is a theory that has numerous supporters, which claims that a blood duel involved two other rivals... Beron and Helion... fighting for LoA… 🫠🫠🫠

Helion didn't give a damn shit about the LoA—for several centuries. And after all that time, the playboy is suddenly supposed to show his true colors and fight Beron for the LoA? That's absolutely ridiculous. Please, be serious.
