Everyone is talking about how it doesn't make sense for Percy to get stabbed since the fleece is right there and he can just heal himself
I think it's because Backbiter is Celestial Bronze and mortal metal. I think we're gonna see Percy healed but not all the way to lock in how serious of a threat Luke's sword is and how far he's fallen
Yall freaking out about backbiter creating portals like that’s not literally straight from the book is so confusing to me
Sure it’s not a shiny blue portal carved from a rune(?) but it’s still the sword literally ripping a tear in space so luke can go through
This is taking so long because:
Before the USA could put a lampshade over me to blot out my eternal sunshine, I was swarmed by legions of undead eastern Asian people. Swarmed. Like a horde of freakers catching me by surprise.
I fought tooth and nail... but by God I swear I am a mere mortal and never pretended otherwise. I feel by fatal bite from {~~~~ ! ~~~)
after that it was all guts and smorgasbord.
I... LOVED YOU!!!!!!!
(#ProcrustesChristendomBeatDown###) The third enemy, if there is one, dies of curse. Terror fatality like the straw man Persona nailer. If there were only two enemies on the field of battle, then the party good suffers imminent doomterror, a particular kind of doom which also inflicts damage and/or status ailments, modified by random variables you didn't know were being counted. Random. Variables.
I advise you not to try to figure out my methods.
They make NO SENSE on purpose. They will never make sense. I promise. 🦇🪽😇👼🪽🪽 oh, the baby? Don't mind him. He's our worst enemy and has eternal life.
^--^

No Satan, you can't have my Baby. However, I am SURE he will want you to hire him when he comes of age. I also advise you to handle that matter delicately enough so as not to disturb me. Much. He will be ready when he says he is, or I will strike him down with mortal fatality in public sight myself. Swear to God boy. Don't you dare embarass the Bylotas name the way a man embarassed not only the Trump name, but his first name, Donald too.
I swear to all that is both holy and infernal that if any being of Creation ever embarrases a single word in such a way, let alone a name(!) they carry as their flesh and blood person (eternal aware!)-- ~~* I swear to the Devil upon my own eternal soul and mortal blood Name, Nicholas Daniel Bylotas, that I will end your fun.
What haooened to your exonomy?
crashed it!? no no no. I unplugged the machine. Safely after the proper shutdown, of course. No horses were injured in the making of my moves. In fact, they ran down the enemy under their heels, just for fun too!
The Lady and I laughed!! Oh did we laugh!!!
Hurt him good too.
Damn right he deserved worse.
now that we've all established none of us remembered that backbiter could open portals (including rick apparently cause he never used it again after tlt) can i just ask
how are they gonna justify the whole fourth book? why would luke need the labyrinth?
maybe i'm missing something obvious like "the fleece would never allow him passage" or something like that, but if he can open portals by the mere slash of his sword, why would he need the labyrinth?
also, given that this power/feature is never mentioned nor used again, we never got the portal-opening "rules", meaning we do not know how that whole thing works, so the writers can literally do anything, right?
which brings me back to "how are they gonna justify the whole fourth book?", just a thought
backbiter being a portal tool is super intriguing to me— because also why is luke making a big deal of escaping camp, no one suspects him until he makes percy suspicious, he could easily leave camp under the guise of going to see may (only ppl who would be confused are grover and annabeth but he could easily say that he was trying to rekindle things after hearing about hermes at the lotus), no one is trapping them at camp? it’s just very safe?
so it’s interesting this choice to make backbiter a portal. it’s clearly still also mortal steel x celestial bronze based on the design, so they’ve added this new ability for a reason…
its either for plot progression (make it more reasonable for luke to be in weird places to antagonize the heros) or for more percy/luke foil development methinks…. pondering!!!!
“Trapped, Inside of my Mind with You”
~ Luke Castellan Fanart I’m quite happy with :D
SORRY???? BACKBITER CAN OPEN PORTALS????????
its such a cool choice for luke because hes a son of hermes and all that. but this is an INSANELY impactful and convenient plot device. did anyone in that writer room consider the repercussions???
why does luke need the labyrinth if he can just hashtag portal to camp?? why does he even need the princess andromeda to get the fleece when he can swish swosh and go straight to Polyphemus' Island??? what are the limitations to this thing can an army go through it???? is kronos gonna use it????
r*ck throwing up interesting plot tools and not forgetting about it challenge???
also backbiter being a half celestial bronze half tempered steel is like the whole point of why its luke's weapon of choice. its crucial to his character as someone who has lost hope in both humanity and the gods.
but now it can also ??? teleport??? why???
edit: i now realized that is canonically correct and even on this "rewrite" r*ck still includes it so lets see
