Man glaubte, dass Narben auf Bäumen durch Hexen, Dämonen oder Geister verursacht wurden. Rindenverletzungen galten als Spuren nächtlicher Rituale.

Manche sagten, dass aus bestimmten Narben Stimmen kämen; dies ist das Zeichen dafür, das ein Baum bewohnt wurde.

In einigen Dörfern durfte man diese „verwundeten“ Bäume nicht fällen, weil sie aufgrund dessen als verflucht galten.

Kerala is the home of mural paintings, a fine art skill and creativity par excellence. Some of the oldest mural painting dates back to 8th century. The mural is an artwork painted or applied directly onto walls, ceilings or any other permanent surface. Amongst murals, the ones from Kerala stands out for the usage of their colours and finesse. The assets used in mural artwork are pigments, gum and brushes, extracted from natural sources like plants and rocks. Composed methodically in a unique manner. Commonly used colours are saffron red, saffron yellow, green, red, blue, black and golden yellow. The subject usually revolves around ancient  Hindu mythology. Scenes depicted are usually from Puranas like Mahabharat and Ramayan. The largest mural panel in Kerala is called Gajendra Moksham from The Krishna Puram Palace. Ancient murals can be found on the walls of the Thirunandikkara cave temple. Some of the more unique things we grew this past year.

1. Pine Berries (Lemon Apple Cucumber next to it) - they look like strawberries but taste like pineapple.

2. Sugar Baby Watermelons - they grew small but were the perfect size for Bento Box lunches.

3. Cucamelons - they look like mini watermelons and taste like lemons and cucumber combined! They are crazy vines and have huge tubers you can save for next year!

4. Snowbird Citrus Dwarf Lemon - they are small dwarf potted citrus trees which we did NOT expect to fruit but with a lot of love and attention it started! It looks like a tiny like right now but we can’t wait to see what happens!! When we homestead we NEED to figure out lemons (it’s a staple in the kitchen here).

5. & 6. Oyster Mushrooms - we literally had such a rough time trying mushrooms we decided to grab this box off Amazon. At the same time we also got Lions Mane. The boxed one worked great but the Lions Mane produced one small mushroom that we fried in a pan with butter. It tasted like popcorn.
