BAGNOSTIAN. Vorreste vivere a NYC? Io francamente sì. Se per qualsiasi inspigabile motivo non riusciste a farlo potreste comunque sempre fare come me: cercate il blog di Bagnostian e sarà un po' come vivere a NYC dal divano di casa vostra...Provare per credere.
Well, I'm back from that meetup, and while I almost let my own awkwardness get the best of me, I think things turned out very well.
Well, turns out that wine and beer are the soap that breaks the surface tension between strangers. I didn't speak to a lot of people, but I always value quality over quantity, and the quality of people I interacted with was amazing.
It made me think about one of my goals when I decided I'd make my tumblr all about photography: social interaction. Real social interaction. At first, I thought this was some unobtainable goal that was only reserved for the viral upper echelon of the tumblrverse. For whatever reason, I kept at it, though. I sent asks to people, not because I wanted to be followed, but because I wanted to talk to the person, I wanted to interact. Every time someone has followed me that I've interacted with, it makes me happy, because it's not some blind reciprocation. It's a mutual appreciation.
I thought about today, and then I thought about the wonderful people I've met because of tumblr. It's actually quite amazing. Me, a random guy with a camera from Brooklyn has used tumblr to meet *deep breath* riverflowsthrougit, nythroughthelens, allleft, joelzimmer, bagnostian, leahdee, wbsloan, mandysloan, skinnysphotos, and now I can add topherchris, samaralex, theodoredow, operationfailure, skylovestoeat, mackenzie, and quite a few more (whose names I don't recall) to that list.
Honestly, meeting and interacting with all of you has been more rewarding than any number of notes I've received. The interaction doesn't stop there, though.
I've been able to interact online with so many of you beyond likes, and I feel as though you guys get to see into my aspirations and interests. Beyond that, I feel as though you support these things! It's the best feeling in the world.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, thanks tumblr, for the ongoing opportunity to share anything with anyone.
P.S. I think I may have had too much wine. I typed "tumblr" as "fumblr" and "rumblr" before getting it right.
