I don’t think the show’s with LGBT characters ( specifically sapphics) utilize / appreciate the ungodly amount of free promo tumblr gives their shows with how much this hellsite loves them ( or loves to hate them in some instances) enough. Oh boy this is gonna be hard for me! I can literally go on and on about this!

Ok! So Franz wasn't originally the heir to Austria-Hungary and only became so when the crown prince died. Additionally, his marriage to Sophie Chotek meant that franz could only have the throne if he removed his descendants from the line of succession.

Franz was super influential in the military and was visiting Sarajevo (Capital of the Bosnia Herzegovina province of empire). A group of assassins were armed by the Black Hands in a plot to kill Franz there.

There were about 6 assassins, most of which either failed or chickened out of assassinating him. One assassin threw a grenade at their car but missed and hit the car behind them. Franz insisted on seeing the people who were injured in the attempt and on the way, Gavrilo Princip the last assassin who had chickened out and was leaving, came across the couple randomly and shot them.

Sophie was shot first and then Franz as he cried over her body. Attempts to save Franz failed because he was fairly vain about his appearance and was sewn into his military uniform every day. They needed to cut it off of him to get the bullet but they couldn't in time and he died. Sophie died on the way to the hospital and tensions between the Austrian-Hungarian empire and Serbia boiled over. A-H declares war on Serbia, other nations take sides, ya da ya da ya da WWI

Anyways! Yeah! I cut it down a fair amount but it's still probably more than needed! Didnt even go into the politics much. People always give me strange looks when I mention my interest in this but it's honestly so fascinating! So many things had to happen and a lot of it was random happenstance but it led to the first world war and a boom in military tech. It led to the spread of the Spanish flu, the lost generation, the treaty of Versailles, even WW2! Tanks were used for the first time and donkeys for the last in war. An entire generation of literature and art was influenced by this! The Ottoman empire inevitably collapsed because of it! The assassination of Franz Ferdinand was a catalyst for all of this!

As annoyed as I am about the commentators’ bs about Charles’ performance vs Seb’s.. Charles really has taken the most out of the car he’s been given and has done a great job. It helps a lot when all of the team’s strategy focus is on you for the race... but I don’t think it’s fair to say he hasn’t earned the position he’s in while managing that car.
