alright, i gotta give balagtas some credit i guess. at least in MY class, we learned balagtas promoted it as a love story, when in reality it was really a fuckshit ton of political allegories abt colonial philippines,, sooo i guess i cant' dogshit him for naming the story "Florante at Laura" even though it focuses on Florante..
buuuuut tbh my point still stands, Laura should've gotten a bigger role in the story. If you're gonna include her in the title, might as well shine a spotlight on her as well. like for fuck's sake balagtas even Aladin had more scenes no wonder 90% of the fandom ships Floradin 😭
there's such a huge missed opportunity with Laura, she could've been like the Maria Clara of this story and it could reflect on the struggles of filipinas during the colonial period, what they had to continuously endure almost everyday. I guess Flerida is a good representation of that, i mean she is the one who ends up killing Adolfo in the end, and we get to see not just the challenges/problems she faces, but how she's able to get through this,, still- it would've been nice seeing this with Laura.
