Farewell and Happy Birthday to Foye Dubose, A Beloved Artistic Visionary
Today, on what would have been his birthday, we say farewell to Foye Dubose, former Artistic Director of Montgomery Ballet, who has recently passed away following health challenges. A Montgomery native, Foye dedicated his life to the art of dance, shaping countless young dancers' lives with his passion and talent.
Foye began his dance journey at Montgomery’s Carver Creative Performing Arts Center and continued with scholarships to the University of Alabama Birmingham, the Hungarian National Ballet School, and the Pacific Northwest Ballet School. His illustrious career included performances with the Dayton Ballet, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Ohio Ballet, Alabama Ballet, and Southern Danceworks. After retiring from the stage, he returned to Montgomery as Ballet Master at the Alabama Dance Theatre (2005-2014) and later became the Artistic Director of Montgomery Ballet.
His impact on the Montgomery dance community and beyond is immeasurable, and his legacy lives on through the students he mentored and the works he staged. Foye, your dedication, and spirit will forever be a part of our hearts.
