So I saw a tumblr post which got hijacked into a TikTok about the batboys attending a con (the TikTok account cut off the @ so if anyone knows OP please tag them! EDIT: I found OP! It’s @5catsinnatrenchcoat - thank you for your service).

The post suggested that Dick would wear the Discowing suit (he 100% would), Jason would steal the Batsuit, Tim would lose a lookalike contest, and Dami would wear a tiny Nightwing suit.

However, this got me thinking, because if this shit was going down in Gotham, a Rogue would 100% show up, and lead to a number of outcomes. Including:

The Joker turns up, but absolutely no one takes him seriously. Everyone thinks he’s just a guy in a costume in very bad taste.

The Rogues learn from Joker’s mistake, and so do the Bats. As such, it becomes standard procedure for someone to be at the con, undercover. This results in that one time that Tim, sleep deprived and dressed as Spoiler, had to fight Scarecrow and on instinct went to grab his bo, only to realise it was some random cosplayer’s and made of kitchen roll tubes.

Another year, for whatever reason, none of the family is available (Dick was injured, Jason and Tim were with their teams, Cass is abroad, Steph is with her mum, Duke had a civilian commitment, Damian is too young to attend as a civilian alone) which meant that Bruce was stuck having to attend. There are two options for this: he either grabs the first costume he sees which is not his suit, and spends the entire day dressed in the Discowing suit Dick had left out, OR he wears the cheapest Spirit Halloween Batman costume available, and is ultimately unmasked during a fight, but of course nobody’s going to take it seriously that Brucie fucking Wayne is Batman, and especially that he’d get the (cheap polyester) cowl pulled off by Condiment King of all people, so people presume it’s a publicity stunt (although #dothebuttsmatch does trend all day). Thankfully, Babs is there, and by the time Bruce logs onto the Batcomputer that night, a photo of the event has already been made the background.
