Use whichever facilities you feel safest and most comfortable using. Surround yourself with supportive people as much as you can.

Keep being you. Do not admit defeat. Time will show the country just how stupid, unworkable, unfair and pointless this whole ordeal has been.

The EHRC is not fit for purpose, and neither is the government.

One last thing.

Never EVER let Labour forget what they’ve done here. This mess is theirs. The Tories started it, sure… the Supreme Court made everything worse… but Labour had multiple avenues of cleaning up this mess up.

They chose to proceed with segregation.

Trans activists stage bathroom sit-in at Capitol Hill

The protest marked a shift in LGBTQ+ activists’ approach to calling for change ahead of a second Trump administration expected to enact hars

Capitol police quickly issued a warning to the protesters — which included U.S. army whistleblower Chelsea Manning alongside author and activist Raquel Willis — to disperse or face arrest, including sexual misconduct charges. Following those warnings, they were arrested and escorted from the building by Capitol police. 

The protest follows Johnson’s announcement in November that transgender women are not allowed to access women’s restrooms and facilities in the Capitol and House buildings — an announcement that was not accompanied with any information about enforcement, or how such a policy would be carried out. The group called for elected officials to block Rep. Nancy Mace’s proposed bill that would ban trans people from bathrooms in museums, national parks and other federal property and for Democratic members of Congress to filibuster and block the bill if or when it comes to a vote. 

“This bathroom sit-in sets an example of the righteous defiance and solidarity needed under a second Trump administration,” Gender Liberation Movement said in a press release, citing support from transgender and cisgender participants. The group said survivors of sexual violence also joined the protest to demand that proponents of bathroom bills stop falsely accusing trans women of endangering cis women when they use women’s facilities.

Speaker Mike Johnson has banned trans women from using the women's restroom in the Capitol Building. Sarah McBride, the first trans woman in Congress, had two choices

Comply with the rule, stay in the House, and vote on policy.

Break the rule, get expelled from the House, and lose the ability to vote on policy. But at least she'll trend on Twitter and Bluesky for a week as far left activists call her a hero.

In the end, she chose number 1. She's being attacked by leftists, but she's more of a true leftist than any of them. She's doing what leftists are supposed to do: Put her individual needs and desires aside so she can better fight for a collective good.

Collective action doesn't always feel good. It can be pragmatic, utilitarian, and cold-blooded. You don't join a collectivist movement and expect to always feel good about yourself.

Bridget Phillipson, the Minister for Women and Equalities, has a decision to make. The EHRC, a regulator mired in controversy over anti-trans views, has sent a new draft Code of Practice to our Equality Act which would lead to the exclusion of trans people from public life.

Their draft tried to turn our equality laws into a bathroom ban, mandating the blanket exclusion of trans people from gendered spaces and services. Even if a business or association wants to remain trans-inclusive, they’d be told they must exclude us.

The EHRC rushed through more than 50,000 responses to its consultation on this draft using AI, and have now sent their final proposals to the government. We don’t get to see their final draft until it’s been decided on behind closed doors, but media leaks and the EHRC’s own public statements make one thing clear: they haven’t changed course.

Act now. Ask your MP to urge the government to scrap the bathroom ban and demand any new Code of Practice ensures providers can lawfully include trans people in their services.

Following 3 lawsuits, EHRC has admitted that toilets are covered by the Workplace Regulations 1992 act and there is no mandatory segregation. A week after claiming in Committee that universal human rights do not apply to trans people.

EHRC consultation ends this week, as they have to go through responses it hurts them if answers are given this week instead of earlier.
