You were scribbling away working on your homework before you began to drum your pen on your paper. Your face scrunched up and Garrett moved his away from Kate’s side and leaning over your shoulder. He glanced at your textbook and then your paper. “Yeah, kid, that’s the right one.”

Your face turned red as you muttered a ‘thanks’ and offered a smile.

“Okay, I wasn’t going to say anything…” Bella turned towards you. “You barely say a sentence to Carlisle’s friends, why? You’re not shy.”

“Of course I do,” you objected. “When the Romanians arrived, I said 'hi, pleased to meet you.’ That’s a sentence in itself…with a phrase in there.”

“you’re deflecting.” Bella said swiftly.

“fine, I have crippling self-esteem. What on earth do I have to make stimulating conversation with several centuries year old vampires?”

“That’s silly.” Benjamin grinned pulling up a chair beside you.

“oh?” You turned to Renesmee. “Hey Nessie.” You called and she turned to you. You raised your pencil and shook it. “The pencil is now rubber.” Renesmee giggled in awe at the now wiggly pencil. “Now…” You said as you turned to Vladimir on the opposite side, doing the same. His blank expression remained as he looked down at the pencil before back up at you. “see? He knows the painful truth, he can even keep up with the pencil. How could any of you find anything I had to say interesting?”

Bella put her face in her hand trying to hide her smile.
