Full disclosure: I’m just here for the Hphl aesthetic.
Even so... I gave her a backstory.
This is Rudolpha (Ralph) O’Leary. She’s a Ravenclaw Pureblood, and not just any pureblood. She’s from the Prewett family, one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight.
Now, I hear your protests already. “Stud, you don’t spell ‘Prewett’ like ‘O’Leary’!” Understood, but just hear me out.
Ralph wasn’t showing any magical abilities by the age of four and, fearing the potential scandal that would disgrace the Prewett name should it get out they had a Squib in their family, they took her to a lovely little place to stay among Mudb- Ahem, Muggles. A lovely, wonderfully busy King’s Cross on the Muggle side. Have a nice day, little one, goodbye.
Luckily, she didn’t have to wait too long alone, as a muggle inventor, a kind man by the name of Edward O’Leary, came across her and asked what she was doing all alone. When she explained, “I don’t get to go home. I’m not good enough.”
While it was not terribly out of character for Edward to do this, it was still a bit of a shock to his business partner and special friend Blair Scholz when he kicked the door to their rented apartment open with a toddler in his arms, the words, “Blair, I can explain,” already leaving his mouth.
After a short debate between the two men, Blair conceded to letting Ralph stay with them, mostly because his heart cracked a little when she said, “I’m not like them, and they don’t like that.”
She grew up with the two inventors, and she traveled the world with them, as they were always moving around to different conventions. This, along with her delayed and, frankly, rather weak magical abilities was why her Hogwarts letter was so delayed. It was just... really hard to get a hold of an undocumented witch that didn’t have much of a permanent place of residence.
When she finally does get her letter, her dads are stoked to learn about an entirely new world with ENTIRELY new rules and abilities and what not that COMPLETELY CONTRADICT their known reality. Blair has to sit down. Edward has already passed out.
When Ralph actually gets to Hogwarts and starts really seeing magic, she’s actually... less than impressed. “We can make light appear at the ends of our wands and create fire!” “Yes, we can as well. It’s called a match.” “We have toilets and bathes installed that lead to separate rooms!” “You... you are impressed by indoor plumbing? You don’t even have electrical lights, you rely on candles.” “We can cast long distance spells to duel our opponents! What say you to that!” “Guns.”
No matter how long she spends at Hogwarts, nor how much she learns and hones her powers, she always considers herself as a Muggle. She was raised that way, she didn’t have much magical abilities so she lived that way, she always defends Muggle life as she still believes, “I am a Muggle, even if not by blood.” Oh, by the by, she completely forgot she was a Prewett, just that she has vague memories of not being good enough for her family. (Look man, she was four, do YOU remember anything from when you were four? Yeah, that’s what I thought...)
She absolutely adores Potions, however. It reminds her of chemistry, a fact that frustrates both her peers and her teacher, and she always loved learning chemistry in the Muggle world. She graduates with the highest marks in Potions, which she stubbornly refers to as chemistry because she is fully aware of how it irritates the other wizards and witches, and becomes a Potions Master, and continues her fathers’ tradition of traveling the world.
On one of these travels, she stays with an old school friend, one of the few she managed to make, she meets his squib older brother and has the immediate thought of, “Him. That one. I want that one.”
Eventually, she does marry him, and she becomes one of the happiest women in the world proudly donning the name “Rudolpha Hodge”.
Tadaaaaa! Again, full disclosure, I will not be buying the game when it comes out, I just vibe with Victorian era fashion.
Also: Face claim is Dakota Fanning because I love her. She looks like Dakota Fanning from childhood to now, she just looks like Dakota Fanning. I love her.
