I’m CONVINCED Bryan waited until Will was locked up to introduce the Bee Lady because he was too much of a coward to show us entomology nerd, Mr. Standard Monograph on Time of Death by Insect Activity himself just yapping about his niche for an hour and then being poetic about the design of the murder.
Again for those unaware that means his paper was so thorough and accurately researched/cited it’s the go to resource for the *entire field*.
Like you need a time of death? Are there bugs? Pull up the Graham Monograph. Use *his* charts.
It’s huge.
Entomologists, crime scene investigators, police forces, law enforcement of all jurisdictions and types who might encounter dead bodies, all across the globe use his work. He’s that guy. Hell I’m sure even true crime girls reference his paper if they’re into the grisly details of an unsolved case.
Beverly’s comment in episode 1 about having read his monograph is only shocking to Will in the context of him being there to astral project on this murder scene and expecting Jack to have set everyone’s expectations about him. He’s an expert, who is the guy to ask questions to in a huge segment of Beverly’s field.
So yea Bryan. You opted out of the bug talk in the bug episode and I’ll never forgive you for that bc some fans REFUSE to accept that he’s just as brilliant as Hannibal if not more book smart by having Bee Lady be a prison arc tableau.
Also I’ll never forgive Bryan for cutting the smoking scene between Hannibal and Cassie Boyle, where she blew smoke in his face and he immediately decided in between drags on his own cigarette that he was going to cut out her lungs and make a joke on them being pre-smoked. Punny little shit. But it also made people assume the Lithuanian orphan was uppity about trying drugs and alcohol when in fact the whole thing he has about “I’m very careful about what I put in my body” is he’s controlling. And makes cannibal butchery jokes. Not that he shits on working class comforts and cuisine or is a health nut. He’s a gourmet and a cannibal.
