July Loves : Stripes

Above, left moving clockwise: Mamie Ruth Evie Shorts are the perfect peach, magenta and royal purple that adds a ton of fun to any outing!  Sherry’s Honey Pot has this sweet pick stitch stripe fabric that would be great for an ottoman or some accent pillows! Beetnix new chia puddings are striped [ok, layered] but awesome for breakfast on the go! shopSCAD artist Emily Cox’s piece Puff and Fluff For Lunch has a wonderful array of pastel stripes that i love!

Mamie Ruth Ringleader bralette and shorts are perfect stripe partners without being too matchy matchy!

Above, from top left, clockwise:  Satchel has this leather trimmed ticking stripe beach bag that is classic in size, shape and material. shopSCAD’s Lacoste Tee by Paige Russel. Mamie Ruth’s Drug Rug Vest is so fun and funky with bold stripes! Christina Edwards’ series focused on vintage circus imagery features some red stripes on a few images. Ely of De Colores Cookies did the classic striped snow cone in cookie form and it is just toooooo sweet! Bleu Companies has this gorgeous Byron Lars dress with striped bodice that is just to die for! Beetnix’s unicorn bowl has a wonderful stripping on top of fruits and toppings like bee pollen, hemp seed granola & coconut.

MARCH LOVES : BLOODY MARY

The perfect hair of the dog for this weekend is our March cocktail: a BLODDY MARY! Lucky for you, Beetnix has a bloody mary mix, ready to go in the chill wall. It has a blend of tomato, beet, carrot, lemon, ginger, jalapeño, cayenne, and garlic!

Juice Feast : RECAP!

Hello! I have survived!  I finished the Beetnix three day juice feast [cleanse] last night, on my birthday. I loved every minute of it! My parents so generously listened to my list of birthday ideas & gave me the feast as a treat to myself to start my 33rd trip around the sun off right! I do have to admit that my coffee this morning tasted darn good!

First, let me just say that the juices from Beetnix Bar are amazing. The nut milks that we ended every night with were so good plus they felt rich and indulgent.  The first night, it was a vanilla almond milk and when i pulled it out of the fridge, cold, cold, cold, tasted like ice cream to me!

I felt lighter, brighter and energetic. But also FULL. I never felt hungry on the feast. I was constantly drinking though. Water or juice ALL day! I also peed A LOT! As most of you who know me know, I tend to err on the side of optimism. I also believe that you can do anything as long as it has a set end date in it! Knowing this was three days was easy to manage!  

Also, it was great to think about it in terms of  abundance not lack. Those are some words Shelley, owner of DDY & Beetnix,  shared with us and it really makes a difference. Think about all you are having instead of what you're restricting. Realize all the goodness that you are enjoying, all the wonderful juices you get to have and the fact that you can always have more, there are more juices just a quick jaunt away at Beetnix. A raw snack, an herbal tea, an organic banana : all things you could easily add to the feast without “messing” it up.

This time, I also started prepping for it before the cleanse, first time I'd tried that! Shelley sent out some tips and tricks on Friday before staring and I read them and decided to just implement them as easily as I could. So cutting caffeine back before the cleanse looked like a small cup of coffee on Saturday and Sunday, herbal caffeine free tea Monday morning. No red meat for a day or two before as well. That may have helped too.

With this cleanse, as it was a guided or led cleanse,  there was Facebook support group, yoga included with the cleanse and you can just bring your thermal bag into Beetnix & grab them every day. It was fun and easy. I would highly recommend. Perfect for a reset to your routine, palette or jump start a new diet.

BEETNIX TASTING

As I embark on the JUICE FEAST happening at DDY’s BEETNIX starting tomorrow I wanted to first share with you some tastes and treats that my collegue Maryellen got to sample the menu at the Beetnix tasting a couple weeks ago. If you haven’t been to this wonderful spot yet then you have been missing out! Stop by for a snack, juice or lunch that will keep you going!
