Inktober 2020 Highlights (Part 2)
“Aurors are the Wizarding World's best defence against the practitioners of the Dark Arts. We're well-versed in offensive magic, because our very lives depend on it. It takes courage, wit and guile. Not many have the stomach for it. Do you?"
In Defence of Salazar Slytherin
Hi Ho how is the Tumblr-verse this fine timeline?
I have something to say in defence of Salazar Slytherin and why I believe he received the rap he got.
As a nerd and a Slytherin myself, I was always curious as to why Salazar didn’t want Muggle born students in his House, or at Hogwarts at all for that matter. Why would a founder whos whole purpose was to cultivate greatness neglect a large mass of evolving students? Well ... i have a theory.
As most people who were brought up with a brain are likely aware, the Witch trials were a thing and although we know of a rise of them during the 1600′s, as a Catholic Church headed land, England and Scotland would have had many other witch trials or bannishments during the course of Catholicism and its mass influence. And as the Church believed that witchcraft = devil worship, it would have lead to Church lead towns holding mini witch hunts of their own - k*lling those they believed were Witches.
As such the Hogwarts would have been a logical safe haven for young magic wielders as it offered protection from the Church and thus persecution. Right?
With this background context we can now safely assume that Salazar Slytherin didn’t want Muggle born or affiliated children in his house because he was worried they would have been a threat to the “Pureblood” or all magic families. This also supports why he had the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets and WHY it was so infatuated with killing Muggle-affiliated students - it was meant to be a bloodhound for if Muggles infiltrated and were attacking the school!
The first thing about a Slytherin is we protect our own which is what Salazar had intended to do with his house and students. No WAY would he have let his students (who were likely shunned for magic in a Church run world) be left unprotected!
So YES he didn’t want muggles or muggle-born kids in Hogwarts because he saw them as a threat to his students SAFETY!!!! Its the only thing that makes sense and his bad rep for being a Purist would have stemmed from his hatred for muggles and the threat they posed to Hogwarts safety.

this concludes my rant
I just now remembered that yesterday was Voldemort's (Tom Riddle) birthday.
