Content warning: mental health . . . . I did this belly blessing last Tuesday. I was so excited, nervous and delighted. This was my first major paid henna gig and I feel like I knocked it out of the park. I brought art, she loved it more than her inspo. The client moved, the baby moved and I compensated. By the end I had time to spare and gave my preggo princess turtles on her feet just for fun. She was thrilled and we all parted company smiling. But then the impostor syndrome stated to set in. Sure, it was a great gig, but you'll never see this type of work coming your way consistently. Sure, you did it this time, but there's no guarantee you'll be able to handle the next one. Maybe you acted too comfortable, maybe they didn't really like you. So I didn't manage to post this victory until today, a week later. It's so hard sometimes, feeling like successes are failures. But I'm learning and continuing to press on.
