Okay, that Ben and Yaz scene nearly took me out, but when Yaz told Ben she loved him and Ben reciprocated... GOODBYE. These 2 have quite literally one of the best friendships in the whole Jurassic franchise. I've always loved their friendship ever since CC and into CT, but CT s4 was a whole other level.

I think that Yaz and Ben's friendship hits so hard because they were the two characters who had the biggest trouble bonding with others throughout the show. Learning that ultimately they found comfort in each other, that they held each other through everything, while knowing how easy it was for them to initially dismiss the bond between N6... I think that this in particular makes their friendship so special

a weird combination of best friends, siblings, ride or die, and mother/son dynamic. they don’t know. that’s just Their Yaz/Ben

autism x autism solidarity. they’re both very quiet people so they don’t overload each other

they are so down to parallel play. Yaz draws while Ben naps on Bumpy/climbs up a tree

they can be Weird around each other. the other won’t judge. they’re probably weirder themself

Be is always texting Yaz the weirdest shit (“hey what do you think the sun would taste like?” “why the fuck are you up at 3am?”

Ben has a ’What The Fuck’ tally for Yaz and every time he adds another five tally marks Yaz has to pay him a dollar

sometime in season 5 of jwcc, Yaz explained to Ben that she was never actually attracted to him. once Ben figured out the whole situation he actually found it pretty funny

they can talk about deep, feeling-y stuff together. each other are usually one of the first people they think about calling, alongside (not after) their partners. when Yaz and Sammy were starting to have relationship problems, Yaz often went to Ben first, and that did admittedly put more of a strain on their relationship, but it helped Yaz and Ben grow closer

Ben does also insist on Yaz and Sammy actually talking to each other about their issues though. he is NAWT letting yasammy die. he’s their no. 1 biggest shipper (sorry Brooklynn 💔)

they’ve had so many deep convos in cars or Ben’s van, or sitting on a rooftop, or sitting in their underwear (NON SEXUAL to be clear) together in mid summer in one of their bedrooms. they like to be next to each other, and talking about their feelings, philosophy, science, the nature of the universe, etc

they’re both horror movie fans but Yaz is more into the gothic, fantasy, vampires, ghosts, and mansions kinda horror, and Ben is more into the modern, violent kind of horror. they watch horror movies over discord, and eat snacks together. they have yet to find a horror film that genuinely scares them (until after chaos theory. then they are terrified to see anything with blood due to more trauma, and they end up both having a panic attack)

mlm wlw solidarity to the MAX. if the two are in a place where they (especially Yaz cos she’s a fem presenting woman of colour in a queer relationship) feel unsafe, they pretend to be dating. it helps to stop unwanted advancements on Yaz at bars/clubs without Yaz having to out herself. when some girl doesn’t know when to call it quits, Yaz is Ben’s pretend gf

Sammy 100% supports this. her and Kenji do the same and the four are in a double fake lavender relationship for emergency situations type thing

Muslim x Jewish solidarity. i feel it in my bones. Ben fasts with Yaz for a few days of Ramadan to “keep her company”, Yaz and her mother celebrate Hanukkah with Ben and his mother. they spend not-Christmas together since neither of them technically celebrate it

speaking of, their mothers are dating each other. Yaz heard her mother went on some dates with a girl around the same time Ben’s mother told him she has a girlfriend and neither of them realised until a month later when they casually kissed in front of Yaz and Ben, and Ben spat out his drink. they didn’t say anything cos they thought they would’ve worked it out (they did not work it out 🥀)

Ben is not at all phased by Sammy and Yaz making out. Darius and Kenji are pretty awkward, and Brooklynn doesn’t care much. but Ben doesn’t give a single fuck. once he, Yaz and Sammy were watching a movie together and midway through Yaz and Sammy started making out and Ben just kept watching the movie, 100% unphased

they teasingly call each other by their surnames

Ben is always telling Yaz to sit the fuck down when her ankle is acting up (if not downright pushing her onto a chair. post epilogue, Ben pulls Yaz onto his lap if she’s being stubborn)

he also helps calm down her ptsd nightmares/flashbacks

Yaz almost always knows what to say to calm his paranoia, but occasionally he just needs to Stand Watch until the anxiety goes and Yaz sits on Watch with him

Ben reminds her to bring her cane, braces, and folding stool with her when they go out because she usually forgets or is in such a rush she doesn’t think of it

he also glares at people who stare at or make rude/ableist comments about her cane

post chaos theory when Ben starts using a wheelchair for his acquired brain injury from blood loss and heart condition, Yaz pushes him sometimes to keep pressure off her unstable ankle

he also lets her sit on his lap during bad ankle pain flares when she doesn’t have the option to sit down (eg they’re in public). he’s her literal ride or die (of pain)

she sometimes goes to his physiotherapy appointments. he especially appreciates her being there because she knows what it’s like to relearn how to walk (she had an ankle fusion surgery) and she’s a good balance of gentle and encouraging

she’s pretty calm whenever he has a medical episode (heart episode or seizure), and she usually helps keep Kenji calm too

Yaz asks Ben to walk her down the aisle. once he stops crying (with joy ofc) he agrees
