I really like Berit! What does she do to work off all the stress that’s piling up for her?
"Well, I..."
(An uncomfortable silence follows.
...You're getting the impression "free time" is a bit of a sore topic...)
"...Why don't you tell me about your day while I update the B-17 section catalogue? It'll be a nice distraction."

The Problem with Purity
Author: Phoenix.Writing
Description: As Hermione, Harry, and Ron are about to begin their seventh and final year at Hogwarts, they learn some surprising and dangerous information regarding what it means to be Pure in the wizarding world.
Review: I really love this fic. This is one of the only ones I’ve read that genuinely feels like a stand alone novel with all of the details that were put into it. It deserves to be printed in my opinion with how well written it is. Hermione and Severus have a looooong build up of angst (I wanted to strangle him several times), but it plays out very well. I will say that during the first 8 chapters or so I did consider quitting, but that’s because the author is laying a lot of backstory out for the fic to continue successfully. It feels a bit rushed through, as several key plot points are put into motion all at once and it’s a bit overwhelming. It sort of feels like she’s overloading the main characters with powers (that will make sense when you read it). However, having read the story I will say that it all falls in place very well and is necessary to move forward with the story. And considering how long the story is, it’s honestly better that these points weren’t set up in current time.
*SPOILER*
For example, we find out that our main characters are pure adults and all that may entail, and then immediately after Hermione magically can turn into a unicorn and has been for some time? That’s where the story almost lost me, but I will say that I absolutely loved the storyline of the unicorns and it played a crucial part in making the story as amazing as it is.

Ehlana: My husband is too tall for me to kiss on the lips. What should I do?
Kalten: Tackle him.
Berit: Dump him.
Mirtai: Kick him in the shin.
Sparhawk: You could just ask me to bend down!

Berit’s mother is still alive and boy is she pissed.
Imagine it if you will, a demure blonde lady tends to some needle work, her head down and her eyes focused on the tiny stitches. Her hair is shot with grey, and there are worry and laugh lines on her face. Marks of the lady of a knight. The men get scars, the women worry lines.
“My lady, a letter for you.” A serving girl says as she drops into a curtsy.
“Very good, bring it here.” The lady puts her sewing to the side a takes the letter. She smiles at the seal on the envelope. Her son’s seal. She had it specially made when he went away for his novitiate.
“He’s grown so much you know. They’ll knight him soon.” The lady says, tearing open the seal. She begins to read the letter.
“WHAT?!?” She exclaims, coming to her feet.
“My lady, what is it?” The serving girl rushes to her mistress’s side.
“He’s gone to fight a god.” The lady replies. Shock fades to fury. “He’s a novice!” She exclaims. “He can’t be sent on dangerous missions. He isn’t a knight!”
There were many angry letters sent to all of the Pandion chapter houses. Each sent with the intention of giveing ‘ that slimey bastard’ Vanion, or ‘His Prickness’ Sparhawk a piece of an angry mother’s mind. Regardless of her son’s protests on their behalf, his mother hated both of them until the day she died. And a little while after that.
All finished up and I absolutely love it.
