Some stuff in my Omegaverse
Sooo the stuff I write is pretty different from stuff I’ve seen before? Idk could be commonplace and I’m just not seeing it. Anyway, here’s my stuff!!
Vire: Since my verse has humans in it, the alphas, betas and omegas aren’t the only people! They’re called Vire. Humans are traditionally nice and respecting of Vire, but certain places that have low Vire numbers are not so nice to them. Humans in those places might refer to them with derogatory nicknames like “mutt” and “horny dogs”. The population overall is pretty evenly split, maybe 49% Vire and 51% human (so in the same world I can have Vire be normal and regular beings but also a big ole serving of whump).
Betas: I know that in most cases, betas are seen as pretty much regular humans, but my betas are a little different. Betas in my verse are always intersex to some degree. They’re the product of Vire mating with humans. A beta with one human parent and one Vire parent could be born either mostly human or mostly Vire. Mostly human betas would still have scent glands, but wouldn’t be able to be alpha or omega. Mostly Vire betas would have weakened senses, but otherwise could pass as completely Vire. Because they’re always intersex, betas sex on their birth certificate is B (for beta).
Female alphas and male omegas: In my verse, the terms of A/B/O only relate to genitalia, and have little to no bearing on what they like in bed or who they are socially. Some alphas are dominant and some omegas are submissive, but it’s not “natural” for either to be either. There are transgender Vire, and there is GRS for “trans-dynamic” Vire (Vire who are born alpha/omega but want to transition to the other.) Female-born alphas have large clitorises and internal testicles that shift into their clitoris to serve as a knot. They do have vaginas and can get pregnant, though it is a great deal harder for them than it is for omegas. Male-born omegas generally have smaller genitals and self-lubricating anuses. When a male-born omega becomes aroused, their anal cavity will shift from their intestines to their uterus (kinda like when you close your nose to only breathe out of your mouth?) Just to be clear, male-born alphas can and sometimes do transition to female and female-born omegas can and sometimes do transition to male.
Presentation: Vire present their secondary sex characteristics around the same time humans go through puberty. Alphas tend to go into their first rut around 12, but it can happen anywhere from 8 to 14. Omegas generally get their first heat around 11 but it can also range from ages 8 to 14. Vire are very open about sex and breeding with their children. Most parents go with “Mechanics, not specifics” for their younger children, explaining sex and breeding with clinical terms before they present, then telling them about consent, checking in, stuff like that. Once a Vire has presented as either alpha or omega, they can get a physical done by a doctor and change the symbol on their birth certificate to an A or an O. Many packs celebrate their Vires maturing. It can be as simple as going out for ice cream or as elaborate as a big party (kinda like a bar/bat mitzvah or sweet 16)
Scenting, nesting and glands: Omegas go through a period just before their heat called “nesting”. Pretty standard, they gather blankets, pillows and clothes to make a den (or “nest”). However if an omega is bonded/mated with an alpha, they might ask them to scent their den. This can be done by simply hanging out in there for a while, giving up a precious item, rubbing their scent glands (located on either side of the jaw, between the neck and shoulders, on the wrists or “hot spots” where people sweat.) on various items in the nest, mating with the nesting omega in the den, or ejaculating somewhere in the den. If an omega lives with an alpha that they’re blood related to, they might ask them to scent their den for comfort, but the blood-related alpha will not ejaculate in the den.
Partner Packs: So in my verse packs are blood family until you’re in your late teens-mid twenties (or until you find a mate) then they’re made of friends. These “friend packs” function as any other pack, with a main alpha and a main omega. The dynamics are a bit different than the main pair being parents, but sometimes those two (or any number!) are given their role because they act as parent friends! Blood packs might have partner packs with the Vire that were in their friend pack when they were kids! They act sort of like extended families, the pups grow up together and sometimes form bonds (because they’re not actually related)
Relationships: While it may be most common for alphas and omegas to be mated/bonded, alpha/alpha and omega/omega relationships happen too! Polyamory is very normal in bigger packs, especially those that started out as friend packs and just never diverged!
Feel free to ask me about headcanons or more details on anything listed above! I know a lot of it was pretty NSFW but I actually write a lot more SFW fluffy stuff than anything else!
