so i'm cleaning out some of the wip-snips i've written that i don't see myself completing. y'all have four options: ignore this, write it yourself, make up fun hcs or bully me into writing it (no guarantees).
this is my bhuvirat murder au:
three things wake him up: banging on the front door, the insistent ringing of the bell, and his phone. bhuvneshwar sits up in bed, groggy, squinting in the dim light. his phone screen goes dark as he misses the call, but not before he sees the time. it’s just past four in the morning. he stumbles out of his room. the knocking has only grown louder, and he unlocks the door, irritated.
his complaint dies on his lips.
police. he takes a step back in surprise, eyes darting from one policeman to the other. “what—what’s going on?”
“are you bhuvneshwar kumar?”
“yes.” his heart starts to pound. “is something wrong?”
“do you know a virat kohli?”
bhuvi’s eyes go wide. “yes. i do. i—what happened? did something happen?”
they glance at each other, eyes softening in sympathy. “i think it would be better if you sat down, sir.”
“tell me what happened.” his breathing starts to pick up. “what’s going on?!”
a sigh. a hand on his shoulder. a plea to calm himself. “he was found dead a couple of hours ago. it appears to be a murder.” bhuvi’s heart drops out of his chest. he reaches for the door frame for support, head spinning. no. they’re lying. they have to be. but somewhere within him, he knows they aren’t. this isn’t some elaborate prank. horrible images of blood flash in his mind.
the next hour is a blur.
he’s asked a few more questions. they came here because he was virat’s last call, last text message saying good night, a saved address on his phone. he’s asked why, and it’s because he is—was—virat’s lover. his boyfriend. he knows every inch of that man’s body, and he hopes, his mind as well.
he's taken to the station. he identifies virat from the pictures he’s shown, swallowing down the nausea he feels when he sees that pale face and clothes covered in red. he cries, a lot. they try to be sympathetic, but they have their jobs to do, and he has no choice but to cooperate. they ask if he knows anyone who would want to hurt virat. he doesn’t know. they ask if he’s aware that virat had an assault case registered against him years ago. he doesn’t know that, either, but given the man’s temper, he’s not very surprised.
they take his phone, but call hardik for him, to come pick him up. bhuvi starts to sob on the phone, when he hears harry’s concern, and his friend promises to be there as soon as he can. hardik and krunal barge into the station in ten minutes, jasprit following close behind. he falls into their arms when he sees them, and beg them to take him away from there. but not home—he can’t bear to be there alone anymore, not after tonight, not when every corner of that apartment reminds him of virat. so they take him to jassi’s place.
bhuvi sits on his sofa, numb, not really hearing what the others are saying. he comes back to earth slowly, their voices growing clearer. he blinks, turns his head towards them, and silence falls.
“i’m sorry, bhuvi,” hardik says quietly, scrambling to pull him into a hug. krunal joins in, but jassi stays where he is, watching them carefully. “i didn’t know—”
“we didn’t realize it was that bad for you,” krunal finishes. bhuvneshwar lifts his head tiredly, confused at that statement.
“what?”
“we’re not saying what you did was wrong.” jassi leans forward, fixes his eyes on him. “so. how are you planning on getting away with it?”
patrat: two people of very similar personalities in different fonts. they both are snarky as fuck and about each other they turn the snark up a notch. in every interaction i have seen of them their tension is at peak. like you two hate eachother, but act in front of the cameras, and secretly want to fork the living hell out of each other. and that ship name is iconic
hoffrat: this one is special. it went up my rankings a whole lot this year especially. virat loved jumping on top of his back every wicket 😭 as if the poor bloke didn't just get out of a injury. they are just so clingy and the height difference with virat always acting like a rabid mouse around him is something else. star sports i will never forgive you for cutting some of their moments together
bhuvirat: their names really blend in with eachother. now their personalities are very different but the little snark and meanness that exists within bhuvis heart pairs up with virats very nicely. virat had a really amazing bond with his fast bowlers and helped him a lot to get to his best potential. got him on his feet, in a way. very cute
my final decision is hoffrat. there is just something about them 😭 i really don't know. they just feel good together
bhuvi hoff and virat are turning into a serious poly trio in front of our very eyes and there’s nothing any of us can do to stop it because tell me why the three of them are always exclusively praising one another all the time
