The Majority species in the Southern Kingdom of Sar, the Glass deserts, is the Naga!
Naga are snake-folk and a Naga family holds the throne! They're well known for heat resistance and a love for heat and flame magics, not only that but they love working with the other species who call the deserts home in order to use the glass and metals to study and create some new instruments and innovations such as rudimentary conductive rods for lightning and the beginnings of piping for water!
Specifically, Naga come in two types (kinda like real snakes), Venomous, and Constrictors!
Constrictors are bigger and usually taller than their Venomous counterparts and are known for higher muscle density and usually enjoy physical labor and places where they can use their strength in safe and helpful ways, such as carrying cargo or medical patients, climbing buildings to assist in construction, fighting sandstorm winds, and most notably melee combat!
Venomous Naga are usually smaller and leaner than Constrictors. They tend to be brighter colors as well as being faster and have a higher average of magic, though not by much. After all, who needs natural physical strength when you can kill with a bite? The Royal family is mostly made up of Venomous types, but there have been a few constricters in the past.
As well as this, overall, Sar desert culture, including the Naga, is very formulated and riddled with high expectancies and a rigid social structure. Sar is by no means perfect, but the kingdom tries its best to be gentle despite expectations and rules as they know no one is perfect
But roles are roles, and if you want to survive in the glass deserts, there's a way that things just have to be. Advancement is key to survival, to power, to being a name on the big stage, and to their culture as a whole.
Arranged marriages are a big thing for upper-class families of the Naga and other desert folk, everything is managed with input and votes from everyone who counts in the decision. Then it's made. No looking back.
