“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.”
That was a quote I posted back in April, and I should have read this before I went on stage. I realize now exactly what this quote is about. If you read my last post, it explained my journey to the stage. It may have seemed like it was tough, and that I was very discouraged, but not going to lie...I was. I was discouraged stepping off that stage knowing I didn't place. It hurt. I put in countless hours for nothing...at least that's what it seemed like at the time.
It has been almost a week since the competition and I have had time to regain my "sanity," sleep, and not to mention weight and I'm back to living a semi normal life again. I have had time to really reflect on what I went through. Right after the competition I asked myself if it was worth it and if I would go through this again. At the time I said no it wasn't and wasn't sure if I ever wanted to step on stage again. But if you ask me now, without a question I would say it was worth way more than I thought and yes I would do it again.
I learned so much about myself during the last few months. I gained a bigger passion for health and fitness, and I have met so many people that continue to inspire me. I originally went into this competition specifically for ME. This wasn't going to benefit anyone else but myself. This was to help me step out of my comfort zone and do something I never thought I would do. For some reason, I forgot that a little after the show.
Looking back, I am so glad I decided to do this. I proved to myself that I can achieve anything I put my heart into. I was determined to get my better my self and I did it. With the help and advice from friends and my will power I was able to loose 20lbs and 5% body fat in 2 months! I am so proud of what I accomplished. This process taught me discipline. Waking up to do 5am fasted cardio 5 days a week was no joke, but I did it. Eating my meal preps while everyone around you enjoyed pizza, burgers, ice creams, alcohol, etc. was so tough...but I did it.
Just like the quote said, the struggles I went through only made me a stronger person and I am determined to get even stronger. I am excited to take what I learned and improve on what I have. It's only up from here and I am not stopping til I bring home some hardware.
