Hallucinations ➳ sensory depravation
Mai always wants attention, a lot of attention. It whines and cries day and night whenever it's not being held by someone. The "forever puppy" line of pets was certainly not the best choice. The owner, a busy business man had thought his children would like the new 'toy', maybe it would become a good excuse for their mother to let them see him more often… clearly the plan didn't work. The kids constantly complain that the biopet is "too noisy", "too clingy", "too unsociable", "irritable" at times, has led the man to discard it. When they said a puppy, really they must have meant a baby. what kind of pet doesn't even play with children?
The kids gave up on the thing. now it's stuck with him, leeching off of him, returning no profits what so ever.
The owner decided to simply keep it in the kennel it was delivered in. It tried escaping a few times, but it can't do much with the arms tied up. (with a blanket, of course, they want it to stay quiet not for it to get rope burns and waste even more money treating it…). It stopped moving after the first hour of struggling. As for the whining, Mai was a lot more persistent with that, maybe about 3 days until he realized no one would come.
The owner was very quick to adjust to the new routine: Mai is allowed to stay with him in any room at any time he feels like having company for a few minutes, petting his soft fur or force feeding him vitamins to compensate for how little it eats.
Oh and there's that, Mai isn't very interested in pet food, or any food really… rarely, almost never eating the dry treats, owner gives it. Usually, it eats anything but food, anything chewable that is. paper, erasers, plastic cups, wall corners, cigarettes, you name it… another reason to keep it on the kennel when nobody is looking after it.
This approach to the situation, however is far from what it's recommended.
The pet is stressed and it's noticable. it went from whining and pawing to growing, hissing, clawing, biting… last time it was let out, Mai smacked a few documents out of the owners hand to eat the paper. nothing calms it down from a tantrum, well… nothing but the kennel… It makes it quiet, but doesn't really relax it. everytime they take it out, it looks like it's head is about to explode… The owner doesn't seem to care, thought… as long as it stays silent.
