Oh by the way, an ID number is just a (short) string of numbers and letters that can be used to identify an animal. They can be any numbers or letters, and any order. ID numbers are given to any wild animal that humans want to keep an eye on, as well as some domestic animals.

These two were so cooperative - a Purple and a House Finch side by side! The Purple is on the left. This clip is great to study their differences - look at wing bars (red on the P, beige on the H), belly pattern (the P has dots, the F has stripes), head feathers (crest crest crest on the P), beak shape (P is more pointy) and tail end (P has a forked end).

I think its some kind of oriole but they all look so similar to me and I’m not sure which ones are common in this area.

Does anyone know why this peacock i saw is so dull because i think it’s gorgeous and id love to know if its like a breed or if maybe its melanistic?
