For the couples participating in LOL 2026 + PEBACA + AouBoom, what have been your favorite series for each as a CP? (Or if they haven’t been in much as a pairing yet, fave show one or both have individually been in)

EarthMix: Honestly for me, Only Friends Dream On is by far their most interesting characters to me, but I have not watched all of their series. I did really like Moonlight Chicken though, and I am curious about some of their other shows but I haven’t gotten around to watching them yet. 

BounPrem: Until We Meet Again for sure. I really loved them in that. And I enjoyed Between Us a lot! But idk, UWMA was just what really got me for them. I did really like seeing their full fleshed out story in Between Us tho. And Revamp…..was alright. It was fun. It was good to see them together again! But I’m more excited to see more of them in various roles in the future. I want to see more of their scope. 

PondPhuwin: Never Let Me Go!!!! For sure. I loved We Are. I loved Me and Thee! Those were fantastic! But Never Let Me Go has a HOLD on me! It was so good!

ForceBook: @heretherebedork said that one episode they’re in in Peaceful Property and TBH I KINDA AGREE. In ONE episode they portrayed SUCH EMOTION! Honestly it was a great story. I did enjoy A Boss and a Babe though, and I did really like their arc in Perfect 10 Liners too. And I’m still wanting to watch Melody of Secrets but haven’t gotten to it yet. 

JoongDunk: I think Heart Killers for sure! Their acting and their dynamic was unforgettable and so incredibly loveable. They did such a fantastic job. Plus it was just fun! I do really love Star in My Mind though too. 

JimmySea: THE LAST TWILIGHT! Hands down. I also loved them in Vice Versa! But still! The Last Twilight was incredible and beautiful and I loved them in it. 

FirstKhao: What’s funny to me is I still haven’t watched The Eclipse. I’m pretty sure I’ll love it too. I just never feel in the mood for it ig. So of the things I have seen them in (which I’m pretty sure is literally everything else they’ve been in), I think Only Friends or Heart Killers would take the lead for me. I freaking loved them in both of those shows, and they ALWAYS kill it with their roles. Oh! And Moonlight Chicken too! If I had to pick one though……ugh. I keep going back and forth between Heart Killers and Only Friends. I literally cannot pick. 

GeminiFourth: My School President, 100%. I love that one so much. It’s one of my top favorite series in general so I’m definitely biased here. But still they did an amazing job, the acting is great, the emotional arcs and characters are wonderful and tangible, and it’s just the best. So much fun, great music, cute love story. I do love them in Moonlight Chicken though. Their acting is mindblowing. My Love Mix Up was really cute and fun too. They did an excellent job. I’m SO excited for them in Love in Siam. I really hope that releases internationally. It probably will, but I have a fear that it won’t. And I’m so excited for Ticket to Heaven too. Of course they’ll kill it. 

PerthSanta: They haven’t been in a whole lot together so far. They are DEFINITELY my favorite arc in Perfect 10 Liners though. And so far I’m loving Love You Teacher. They were great in Me and Thee too, but honestly I wish they had had more screentime and fleshed-out-ness. But anyway, I gotta say P10L. 

WilliamEst: I love them, but like they had to grow on me. And so far they’ve really only had Thamepo and Me and Thee. I am SOOOO excited for You Maniac though! I feel like You Maniac would be my answer if I was doing this tag game after it airs. But nope. I did like Thamepo but also it doesn’t feel memorable to me, and I feel like Me and Thee just didn’t flesh them out enough even though I LOVED their characters and dynamic. I kinda want to say Me and Thee rn. I’m gonna go with that one I think. 

JuniorMark: My Romance Scammer. For one, they’re INCREDIBLE in it so far. I’m freaking loving every second of it. But also tbh, they were not my favorite in P10L. But also part of that - and I could honestly write a whole essay about this (that would probably double as a therapy session too) - is that I actually related to the premise of Junior’s character a lot, and then everything that came about afterwards did not line up with how I thought any of it should go. So there was just a whole disconnect and unsettled feeling throughout their whole arc. I just couldn’t get into it or behind either of their characters. 

JossGawin: I have loved both of them for SO LONG. I love them as a pairing too, but My Golden Blood was nooooot my show. I watched it, but mainly bc my cousin was super into it. I’m loving them in Only Friends Dream On though. They are so cute - I’m sure drama is coming though. And I’m very excited to see them in other future projects. 

OffGun: Theory of Love. This is still the best thing I’ve seen them in to date. I did love Not Me though, and Puppy Honey will always hold a soft spot in my heart. But Theory of Love is a series I genuinely love and also feel like they really MAde something artistic and beautiful there that has impact and reverence. It feels truly like art that was created and is meant to be pondered and let it change something in you. Nothing else they’ve been in has had that level of impact, despite how many things they’ve been in since then. Not Me is probably the closest, but for me personally it does not sit the same. 

TayNew: Okay I have not seen Cherry Magic Thailand yet, but I want to SO BAD!!!!!!! I just cannot find it online anywhere. But I do love Dark Blue Kiss, and I loved Peaceful Property too even if it was a bromance! But it was fun and I loved their relationship in it. I will just read between the lines to their hidden behind the scenes love story. That’s what fanfiction is for anyway. Also excited for their future projects! (Also New isn’t in this, but I LOVED 3 Will Be Free)

KristSingto: SOTUS. I like SOTUS S too, but I don’t remember it as well as their first series. And I haven’t actually watched The Ex Morning yet either. I kinda want to, but also I’m just not sure I care enough. SOTUS was fantastic though. They really paved the way in so many ways with that series. And I think it was another one I watched pretty early on in my BL watching so I also kinda remember going DAMN Kongpob!!! He just SAYS THINGS!

AouBoom: Oof! This is a hard one. I have loved them in everything they’ve been in. What’s coming to the front of my mind though I think is their roles in P10L. I loved their push and pull there. I also loved them in We Are too. They are so cute. And I’m currently loving them in Only Friends too. They’re reeeeeally living up to these roles. They do drama, romance, toxic, lust, love, ALL OF THE THINGS, so freaking well. I love them. And again, So excited for their future roles.

10 Sunshine/Sunshine AKA cinnamon roll couple BL

A note: usually one half of the sunshine is a bit more quiet and introverted than the other, but they are both still sunny sweeties. Side dishes not included. 

1. My Ride

Thai 2022 Gaga

Thai BL grew up with this pulp - a truly lovely and special little show featuring mature explorations of relationships using one of the softest, sweetest and most innocent friends to lovers vehicles. Kindly, overworked doctor meets broken-hearted motorcycle taxi driver in an “other side of the tracks” slow burn romance. The support cast is excellent, making for great friendship groups and family dynamics. With honest queer rep that adds to, but doesn’t impede the story, and genuine conversation about the nature of class, wealth, and classism, not to mention communication, honesty, and respect for boundaries, you can’t go wrong with this show. 2. Vice Versa

Jimmy is insanely charismatic and takes up all the air in (the proverbial cinematic) room, but I warmed up to Sea eventually. As a couple they read as more teasing and brotherly than sexy, but that’s GMMTV’s brand for you. I enjoyed the concept of this show (I’m big into magical realism and skewed reality - see my adoration for Color Rush) but JittiRain’s plot was contrived and weak (normal for them). Look, here’s the thing, flaws and all I pretty much spent this entire show smiling.

3. My Only 12%

Thai 2022 iQIYI

Y-novel adaptation (author Afterday - Bad Buddy) and strong little BL romance (tailor made for SantaEarth) about holding onto first love and childhood, but it’s buried under waffling family drama and formless side characters so that it took a lot of digging to get to - still I recommend it for the killer softly domestic couple chemistry.

4. About Youth

Taiwan 2022 Gaga

A truly lovely little coming of age high school BL with a classic YA low drama but high angst and an earnest depth. I didn’t even mind the singing, and that’s saying a lot. A weak seme/uke dynamic but tons of BL tropes (both rare in a high school setting but common for Taiwan) makes this one feel both sweetly and colored by an almost real world authenticity and grit. 5. Ghost Host Ghost House

Thai 2022 YouTube?

This is light horror combined with family drama built around a well executed BL trough-line that felt honestly queer with fantastic chemistry from the lead pair. (I hope that we see more of them.) Pluem delivers the softest most seductive krap ever, Tod Techit (Kewin) is one of the prettiest humans on the planet, and watching these boys flirt over noodles is an unalloyed pleasure. Use of I/you pronouns is super interesting and cute as well. For me, personally, the surrounding cast, premise, and story didn’t resonate but if you like a touch of gothic in your BL this might appeal.

6. Dear Doctor, I'm Coming for Your Soul

This is a romance between a doctor trying to save his patients and a reaper who is both his enemy and (eventual) lover (basically the genius premise of a gay Doom at Your Service). High concept looks good on you, Thailand. It’s lovely to see KarnNat back on screen together and they are still great, and Karn is just as painfully beautiful as ever. I enjoyed this one more than it’s ending deserved, and the best I can say is that it’s not strictly HEA but if you’re okay with Life: Love on the Line, you’ll be okay with this BL. It’s set up well, there’s no surprise unpleasantness like HIStory 3: The BL that shall not be named. Full Review here.

7. Secret Crush On You

Formerly call “The Stalker” for a reason. Highest cringe factor in the biz mixed with flashes of unparalleled genius and insanely good representation of multiple different kinds of queerness makes this entirely unique content we’ve never seen before in BL, the opposite of sanitized gay, like a naked glittery hello kitty doll having kinky sex. I was ALL OVER THE PLACE about this show. SCOY drove me nuts and made me bush but had flashes of unparalleled genius. It had a ton of things I really did not like (e.g. the humor was crass and awkward, and the whole stalker thing was extremely stomach churning, I suffer from bad second hand embarrassment). It also had things that really worked: (e.g. all the queers are INTO each other, it very Taiwanese feeling - in that there was no doubt that the characters want to bone). Honestly, if you can make it through the first half and survive the never ending cringe-factor that IS this show, the second half is entirely unique and kinda special. But I, personally, could never really like this show for all there were bits I loved. Full review of mixed feels.

8. The 8.2 Second Rule

AKA 8.2 Byo no Hosoku

Very short JBL about a schoolboy who makes magic candy for a series of handsome classmates, questing for a soulmate. Each ep is a new love interest and while the sweets help others, they keep failing to bring our sunshine the love he wants. Of course, he’s overlooking someone. The lead was very good and the theme, cooking, and eventually romance were charming, but it is a series of BL vignettes not really a cohesive story, no kisses or anything. Japan doesn’t give us sweet BL this short very often, so it’s nice to see them try out the style.

9. Ai Long Nhai

Look, this show was just a typical Thai BL university pulp about a confident gay and a clueless manic pixie dream boy. It had potential, chemistry, and earnestness going for it, but no plot and not enough attention side dishes. In the end, it was boring and you know I always rate boring lower than hot messes (because at least the hot mess TRIED). That said, Ai Long Nhai is better than your average Thai pulp, nothing happens but at least the nothing was mostly shirtless and there were GREAT gay dads (IRL husbands Arm & Porsch). 

10. Coffee Melody

Thai 2022 Viki

Stars Pavel (my love) as a cafe owner (Forth in 2 Moons 2) and Benz as a composer (Call it What You Want). This should have been my kind of BL - on the fluffy end of the spectrum plus honestly queer. Unfortunately, the slow pacing, manufactured angst, odd secondary story arcs, and a selfishly immature unlikeable wet dishcloth main character, Yi, meant its flaws outweighed its charm. Jean (flame on snark fairy) is MINE, I love him so much but in the end neither he nor Pavel in an apron could save this show for me. It’s not bad. It’s not good either. Ultimately so forgettable I’ve probably already forgotten it.

Ooof, just hitting hard right out of the gate!

What are your top 5 QL this year?

I have to choose five? Somehow? Ooof. Rough.I cannot put these in any specific order, okay? I actually already did this, I think, but it's probably changed.

My Ride just has to stay here because it's so darling and so great and surprised me and I loved it so much and it was so soft and so gentle and so full of love.

Which also goes for SCOY! Secret Crush on You was shockingly good almost despite itself and then just turned into this glorious show of representation and love and understanding and tenderness.

Old Fashion Cupcake because it's perfect and just... again, that tenderness and love and joy and they're so soft and so darling and so real.

The Eclipse because it seriously let me just love on a bunch of characters and lose my mind over them and the plot and the symbolism and it was glorious for that.

Triage because that show just took me out emotionally and was so, so good and the time loops were good enough that I still ended up loving them.

Who are you top 5 favorite characters this year?

Do I remember? That's one of my favorite parts of BL is the constant moving forward... so let me think!

Name is my current baby who deserves to be in a better show and who I identify with far too much so he has to go here.

Sky is also my darling and my absolute baby and I love him so much and he deserved all the happiness he got and he was in such a good show.

Nozue is just... the best. The absolute best. I love him so much. I cannot even begin.

Jae Yoon has a special place in my heart because he was just trying so hard and ended up doing his best and they did such a good job.

Weird inclusion? Shiro from Kei x Yaku. I loved him so much and I wish that show had gotten better international release.

Who are your top 5 favorite pairings this year?

PluemKawin - Soft boys in love handling issues maturely and a time skip that actually worked? I love these boys.

SkyJao - Because they deserved each other and were so darling, so sweet, absolutely lovely.

RamLuckchup - Just... softest boys in the entire universe. They were so good and I could have watched them forever.

TinTol - Soft and we got to truly watch them grow into and for each other? Yes, please.

HaeBom x TaeSong - the softest boys and so loving and their bright future and their rings? I love them so much.

End of Year QL Questions

I'm realizing that we're now into an era of bl that now confuses me more than ever.

Because we're into an era, where in realizing, huh, probably way more of these guys than I think are actually probably queer in some way. And are maybe or maybe not hiding it.

And I'm.

I'm so used to thinking about offgun and other pairings where I'm like, I don't know what relationship they have irl. The fan service is intense. I'm confused. I can't fathom it. So for all I know they're just good friends. And that's been my default for YEARS.

And now I'm more delulu than I ever thought I'd be bc so many actors are actually! Like! Kind of out? Or have implied things? But also I know fans will take one sentence out of context and make an entire edit on YouTube about it. So I still can't like actually believe any couples are real. But also. I can't really deny the very real possibility either?

All I'm trying to say is, there are some pairings I'm highly sus about. And also I feel like my brain might implode if I think about this any further.

I am sure there are quite a few pulps in here. This is a popular paring. I mean Mame alone seems to have a version of it in all her shows. 

Any peeps want to comment with their favorites?

I know I talk a lot of pining. Because I love pining. But it is not the only dynamic I love!

So let's vaguely discuss another one!

Because I absolutely LOVE and will do ANYTHING for a pairing where one characters neglects themselves and their partner has to take care of them/convince them to take care of themselves.

I mean, this also might be kind of obvious from a lot of my favorite pairings?

Ae and Pete? Ae is the most darling little demi ever and he knows how to take care of Pete in a way most people wouldn't ever let anyone take care of them and I love them so much.

Tin and Can? Can has a tendency to be oblivious and Tin is good at being right there for him once he gets to that point, though Can returns this favor in terms of helping take care of Tin and his emotions as well.

Leo and Fiat? Do I... do I really need to explain how this fits? Leo's entire life has been helping take care of Fiat and he loves it and him so deeply and all Fiat wants to do is be taken care of like the trash baby he is.

Shen Wei and Yun Lan? Shen Wei constantly neglects himself (the infamous "I am used to being hurt" line comes to mind) and Yun Lan takes care of him. This is also reversed, of course, in which Shen Wei takes fabulous care of Yun Lan. Basically, they each neglect themselves and then take care of the other and I love them so, so much.

Frame and Book? Book's first response to bleeding after sex is that he can't miss school again. Frame makes sure he takes care of himself first. It's DARLING.

Yue Lou and Yu Zhi? Yue Lou would never do anything to help himself, he would never have started working on his PTSD issues with Yu Zhi beside him. Never.

Itt and Pai? ... Look, in my dreams, this is how this pairing works with Itt taking care of Pai who constantly neglects himself for the sake of everyone around him. Is it exactly canon? Uhhhhh. No. Did I want it to be? Yes. So I'm adding it.

Tutor and Fighter? To... an extent? Tutor definitely has a tendency to neglect himself and Fighter wants to take care of him, but their relationship isn't exactly this dynamic. Close, though, very close!

... Look, this is the list that comes from the top of my head. I adore this trope and this type of relationship. Is it healthy? Not most of the time. Do I care in the slightest? NOPE. Should I have found pictures for all these pairings? Probably if I was less lazy.
