“Why are you an atheist?” Simply put, my humanity doesn't depend on the approval of a sky daddy that ghosted his own son.
Allah is Human (Down to Earth/Grounded). Human means "with the Earth" We live here.
Homo Sapiens means Wise Man. Knowledge degree, 1-40. Wise Man of the East. Make history for every mile of our Home.
I used to think that the term human was "lesser than" the term Man, but now getting older and Understanding more, I am Wise enough to See there is no shame in saying Allah is Human, because it does not mean what most people think it means like "imperfect" or "weak". It means being Humble, Mindful, Progressive/Room to Grow, Social, Relatable, Empathetic, and Personable. With the Earth. With the Families of the Planet Earth.
Being Human does not take you away from the Aboves/The Heights of Excellence/Higher Mentality.

The black and white archival images of the brutality African Americans endured in the 1900s often misleads some people into believing racist
The sad irony about all of this is that white Christians continue to murder Black Christians. Christianity is responsible for Black Indiegenous People demise. We are witnessing Black People being dominated by white Christianity. I don't see any good in evil. Black on Black Love should be a sounding call for Black Solidarity and peace towards each other and say to the rest of the world who fail to embrace their Blackness, fuck you!
Happy Atheist Day to all my fellow non-believers!
Being a Black female atheist can be a dark and lonely place, you really have to have a strong sense of self and be secure in who you are and what you're about, or else you find yourself pretending to be someone you're not, just to get people to leave you in peace. Plus religion is such an ingrained part of Black culture it can be difficult to separate yourself from that narrative, because we've seen it as such a necessary tool for comfort and hope in our community, it's easy for us to forget how it was enforced on our ancestors in the first place. People automatically want to label you as a devil worshipping heathen for being a non-believer, even if you don't subscribe to any supernatural characters period.
Learning to understand and accept reality for what it is has not always been easy but I realize now that 90% of the chaos currently plaguing this planet comes from people choosing to believe in what brings them comfort and satisfies their fears as opposed to understanding and accepting hard truths, and then taking necessary action. I actively choose to be a good person without the threat of hell or the promise of heaven. I also choose to be the master of my own life and refuse to accept the idea that I am simply a vessel put on this earth to do the will/bidding of a creator. So much truth, beauty and wisdom has come to me since I started this journey about 15 years ago.
In countries and societies all around the world, more people are choosing to emancipate themselves from man-made dogma and superstition. More people are choosing logic and reason over fear and ignorance and opting out of the oppressive patriarchal institutions that have dictated humanity for centuries. I will continue to unapologetically be a part of that movement.
Anyway...
To my Black agnostics and atheists, do y'all have any good literature on leaving Christianity? I wanna give some info to my cousin to read.
Also Black witches, do y'all have any good book suggestions for beginning/entering pagan/wiccan practices or the like. I also wanna give that to her.
I only have books and suggestions about African religions and Hoodoo.
Thanks in advance.
Project “31 interviews in 40 days” complete! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to my master’s thesis project on identity development of ex-Christians; the interviewing process has been so life-affirming and hearing the stories of people in the ex-Christian community has reminded me over and over again why research in this area is so important.
I’ve reached recruitment capacity for this project, but I will undoubtedly be doing additional work on the topic of religious exit in the future. If you’d like me to reach out for a future project or if you’d like a copy of my master’s thesis when it is complete, please feel free to send me a message!
