Sara’s breath caught in her throat as she froze, too shocked to move as the real world and dreamworld collided.

Oh. My. God.

Her brain whirled, trying to work out how this had happened. Reyes, thank god, seemed to be deeply asleep and blissfully unaware of their predicament. He looked peaceful in the early morning light; contented even, to have his arms wrapped firmly around her waist.

Evidently at some point in the night they’d snuggled up to each other in their sleep.

Sara blushed, trying not to think what Reyes would say if he woke up and found her plastered against him like this. She’d never hear the end of it; that was for sure. It didn’t help that her own treacherous body was reacting to the feel of him against her, and the temptation to snuggle back against his chest was strong.

But she wouldn’t give in.

Gritting her teeth, Sara tried to ignore the very male body pressed against hers as she unwound her arms from his neck. He shifted slightly, and she paused, waiting for him to settle before she tried again to disentangle herself without waking him … but his arms stayed stubbornly locked around her waist no matter how she shifted.

It was no good; she'd have to wake him up ...

A/N: In case anyone is interested, here’s a little note about this chapter: It ran away with me, utterly. At the end of the last chapter I didn’t know where the story was going or what the heck I was doing. I was getting close to the halfway point of NaNoWriMo and panicking. And then I swapped to Reyes’ voice and everything fell into place. I loved it immediately, but I feared it was self-indulgent. I’m curious to hear what you all think.

you don't really need to delete it, You can post your opinion on your own blog! :)

I didn’t delete it because I was afraid of backlash. It was just incoherent because tumblr posting is shit, and the lag erased a really crucial paragraph that I didn’t want to rewrite.

Tbh I have always been vocal about my criticisms regarding fandom behavior and MEA, and I wasn’t going to stop today.

You’re in luck then! :-D That panel will appear in one of the upcoming Batman issues as part of the flashbacks in the War of Jokes and Riddles arc. That’s why her costume is purple again.
