Blaze is poised in the air as if mid-jump. She has one leg extended and the other bent beneath her. Her hands are balled into fists and surrounded by fire. She looks to the side with a scowl, fangs showing. Her long tail curls around and under her like a live thing. Six red triangles underscore her eyes. On her forehead is an oval red jewel. It is cracked, like a bite has been taken out of its top right.

For her outfit, Blaze's top resembles her canon design, purple with long sleeves, white cuffs, and a gold necklace. Rather than her usual white leggings, however, she instead wears white pants with a slit down the side, allowing them to flap loosely around her ankles. A gold crown-like band ties her feathery hair back in a ponytail, and a red sash is tied around her waist. White feathers are on her ankles, and her feet are white, bird-like talons with dustings of purple scales.

Behind Blaze is Solaris, a being with a body plan similar to Blaze's but alien, statuesque features. Cracks mark her edges, as if she is made of stone. She is primarily a pale yellow-white, like sandstone, gradating to a dark red at the ends of her limbs and tip of her tail. In the center of her chest is an empty hole, shaped like an emerald. It is pale blue. Her head is smooth and bird-like. Her "eyes" are large, angular slits of pure ruby. Three slits of blue lie under each eye, like tear drops. On her forehead is a mark like a gem split in half. The left half is pale red, the right half the same color as her eyes.

Her limbs are slender and tapering. Her hands have three claws each. Her legs end in sharp points, with no feet. Her tail is long and jagged, ending in a spade-like point. Seven red shards fan out from its tip, not connected to the tail by any physical tissue. In the same fashion, six long shards fan from her arms like feathers, and ten rays arc out from the halo-like horns on her head. Between their tips floats an oval jewel, cracked the same as Blaze's. The left side is faded red; the smaller right fragment is rich ruby.

Solaris's pose mirrors Blaze's, making it appear as if her halo and wings are Blaze's. Solaris's left claws rest on Blaze's shoulder, while her right hand cups Blaze's own. /end ID]

some fresh art for my old Rush of Flame AU, a Blaze-centric AU with lots of Rush inspiration, an almost entirely original setting, overly elaborate worldbuilding, a dash of Sonaze, for flavor. Blaze's design hasn't changed much, more the way I rendered it. Solaris's design has changed quite a bit. I wanted to make her like more inhuman, and I think it turned out really well. better look at each of them below.

as for why I drew this now, when I haven't touched this AU in at least a year... well, I was going to do an AU August Challenge, but I immediately fell badly off schedule. very badly. and so I decided that rather than go through the same struggle I did with my extremely ill-fated OCtober last year, I wouldn't try and scramble to finish the challenge but just. draw. at my own pace. when I felt like it.

no checklist. no self-imposed challenge or time limit. just drawing what I felt like, when I felt like it, and taking the time to make something I'm actually happy with rather than rushing to make something "finished". it's a novel concept and frankly? unnerving. what is this. don't like it. take me back to planners and to-do lists where I belong. /lh

Royal!Big AU

Main Idea: 

Big is Blaze’s Long Lost Older Brother

Key points:

-Big and Blaze are siblings and are children of the King and Queen

-Big didn't get his fire powers when he was with them

-Big did not come out as the perfect son they wanted

-The parents neglected Big and abandoned him in Sonic's Dimension using the Sol Emeralds 

-Big bumped his head near the time he got abandoned and forget everything about his family. 

-They treated Blaze like the perfect daughter 

Summary:

There was a King and a Queen in Blaze’s Dimension. Oxi and Pyre. Their firstborn was a boy they dubbed Sear. Sear is the one we know as Big today. Everyone in the family before had amazing fire powers and children would show the first sign of these powers before they even hit one year of age. Big, however, never showed those signs. He didn’t have powers, or at least he didn’t right then. Big was also known to them as a "strange child." He was more interested in aquatic life than most other kids his age. He also wanted to play in the dirt and play very wildly. This was unheard of in the royal family and his parents did not like it one bit.

When Big turned 4, Oxi and Pyre had another child and named her Blaze. She did show signs of having fire powers and treated Blaze as the perfect daughter. This caused them to show so much neglect to “Sear” to the point where they used the Sol Emeralds to abandon “Sear” to Sonic’s Dimension when he turned 5. Sear bumped his head on arrival and forgot everything he knew about his family and life beforehand. The only way he was able to survive was due to a newly found ability he had of breathing fire. 

Back in Blaze’s Dimension, the King and Queen soon went into hiding with Blaze because the people found out that Sear, the only one in their family without fire powers, went missing. They went off the radar for 5 years. Not too long after Blaze turned 10, they were found. The King and Queen were sent to life in prison for child neglect and possible murder. Before they were taken away, they told Blaze that she had to protect the Sol Emeralds no matter what because they didn’t want there to be any kind of true evidence or something for their crimes and also because the Sol Emeralds have been passed down the family line and only the royal families know of its true powers. 

Blaze came out of hiding and was still the princess but kept the Sol Emeralds a secret still. The kingdom still sees Blaze as the princess in power but does not like to interact with her because she is the daughter of the people who got rid of one of their children. Meaning that Blaze has been alone since she was 10, guarding the Sol Emeralds.

Good To Know:

-Blaze was too young to remember Big before he was abandoned. -However, she does know that her parents abandoned a child and were put in jail for it but don’t know who the child was or how it happened.

-None of Big’s friends now know that he has the ability to breathe fire. With his incredible strength, he doesn’t have a use for it in battle.

Getting Toasty AU

For a person who has never - how shall we say - “partaken in the more dank things in life,” Character A doesn’t exactly feel obligated to get high when 4/20 comes around. Instead, they invite their friends over to “get toasty” with a large fire, marshmallows, and several dozen blankets.

They have a wonderful time until one friend, uh, well, they didn’t get the message and they show up completely plastered. As they begin to have an existential crisis, everyone else is forced to handle their ramblings and make sure they don’t choke on marshmallows.
