Day 7 - Blodeuwedd
Blodeuwedd is the dark personification of spring and girlhood in Welsh mythology. Blodeuwedd was, like the biblical Eve, created by the divine hand in order to become the wife of the once damned man. She is the flowering of broom and meadowsweet, branches of oak and aspen, embodied nature, enclosed in a woman, born to be submissive. But Blodeuwedd was not like that. She is the personification of spring, but not only blooming and beautiful, but reborn from sleep, she is a blazing life, rebellious and restless, she is a windy evening and a hot May thunderstorm. Blodeuwedd renounced what was intended for her, she independently found a lover to whom her heart was drawn, and then with her cunning and cowardice she killed her destined. The subsequent grief was great - since hers creator was offended and disappointed by her, her destined husband was resurrected and defeated her lover, leaving her alone. The Blodeuwedd was cursed - for loneliness and restlessness, turned into a creature that would not find an ally either among birds or among animals. She became embodied night and predation, cutting the dark air with her deaf cry and restless wings. Only brothers and sisters like her, frightening ghosts scurrying among misty forests, became her family. The maiden owl, not seeing more sunshine, became the personification of a spring night - sheer rebellion and heat, passion and cruelty.
After a certain break, it was very important for me to continue my work. I experimented a little with the density of the pencil, giving the features extra sharpness and danger. Owls turned out ... funny. The facial features are somewhat rude, I lost a little the previous dexterity and now I need to work harder so as not to get lost. In general, I am satisfied with the work, but, you know, not quite :D. Need to work with proportions and not be shy. In general, this is a very simple drawing, it was a pleasure to work on it, but that's not all. Practice, practice, practice, cause I'm completely lost.

Blodeuwedd or Blodeuedd (Welsh pronunciation: [blɔˈdɛɨwɛð]), (Middle Welsh"Flower-Faced", a composite name from blodeu "flowers, blossoms" + gwedd"face, aspect, appearance"), is the wife of Lleu Llaw Gyffes in Welsh mythology. She was made from the flowers of broom, meadowsweet, and oak by the magicians Math and Gwydion, and is a central figure in Math fab Mathonwy, the last of the Four Branches of the Mabinogi.

Developing a very strong bond with Blodeuwedd.
I love all my Celtic ladies, and Cerridwen is probably the other one who's been connecting with me a lot in my Witchcraft especially.
But Blodeuwedd has refused to leave my altar. I used to swap the cards of my Celtic oracle deck daily but I've been less inclined to these past few weeks.
Obviously we're in Winter so she's in her darker owl form...and I guess it's that connection to the Dark Goddess I always hear people talk about with like Hecate or the Morrighan. Visualising her wings around me and her claws protecting me brings me comfort and I ask her to help me steel myself during this depressing period between Yule and Imbolc.
There's so few sources on her though and most just focus on her Flower Maiden / Spring aspect.
