Spend an afternoon watching people set up an AI girlfriend on sweetdream.ai and you notice something unexpected. They linger. Before they ever start a conversation, they are deciding whether she grew up by the sea or in some loud city, whether she is the type to text first or wait. The character builder on SweetDream invites that kind of patience, letting users shape looks, voice, temperament and an actual backstory rather than picking from a thin menu of presets.
What stands out, observationally, is how much the backstory changes the chat itself. Because SweetDream's conversations are emotionally intelligent and remember context, a companion with a defined past starts referencing it on her own, the way a real person carries their history into a relationship. The effect is subtle the first day and striking by the second week.
Plenty of platforms promise an AI companion. Tools like candy.ai and ourdream.ai have their followers. But the people I watched kept returning to SweetDream specifically because the personality felt authored, not assembled, and because everything they built stayed entirely private.
Info - abuse, leaving home, physical abuse from a parent, hurt comfort
Your father screamed at you again. Then, as you'd predicted, his hand whipped across your face. In a way, you were used to it, but in another way, you could never get used to the feeling of someone you loved hurting you.
"You come home at midnight! I don't know where you are, I'm worried sick!" He screamed. Ever since your mom had left him, he'd been a real maniac. You just thanked God that your brother had been able to leave with your mom.
"More like you were worried you didn't have someone to get you a beer every fifteen minutes," you muttered. Crack! His hand had flown across your cheek again. Your face was hot and smarted like Hell.
"Don't you dare talk to me like that!" Your father growled. You felt helpless, and you hated feeling helpless.
"Dad!" You yelled back. "My curfew is at eleven-thirty, I was half an hour late, I'm sorry! I was trying to help my friend get home safely! Most parents would be proud, maybe some would punish me, but they wouldn't hit their own child for a half an hour difference-"
You couldn't continue your rant because something large and meaty collided with your right eye. You fell backward and landed painfully on the hardwood floor. It took you a minute to realize he'd punched you. It hurt to blink, but you had to, to keep from crying.
"In this house, I make the rules," he growled quietly, like a lion ready to pounce. "Your curfew is eleven-thirty, you know what that means?"
You nodded, holding a hand to your eye. Your hands were shaky, and you felt cold fear consuming you as he got closer.
"Say it," he demanded.
"That means I come home at eleven-thirty," as you spoke he slammed his huge booted foot down onto your foot. You worked hard to keep your voice level, knowing any wavering in your tone would make him hurt you more. "No later, not even a minute later," you finished. It was a mantra he'd made you repeat often.
"Very good," he smiled wickedly and removed his boot from your bare toes. You could see they were already turning black and blue.
"Now, I'm not a completely cruel father, it's only ten now, why don't you have an hour and a half of fun," he gave you a triumphant smile. You knew that was his way of saying "I don't want to look at you anymore."
You scrambled up from the floor. You limped to the door as your father walked back into the living room. You snatched your purse and a pair of shoes and left as quickly as you could. It was hard to drive through the tears and the painful pounding behind your eye.
Finally, you made it to Bob’s house. You banged on the door aggressively as you sobbed. At last, it opened and you practically fell into his arms. You felt exhausted, scared, and sick to your stomach.
"Babe, what's wrong?" Bob asked worriedly. His calming voice was already doing wonders for your nerves. He held you close as you clung to his shirt and cried into his chest.
"Look at me y/n what's the matter?" Bob drew you away from him for a moment, wanting to properly assess the situation. He gasped when he saw your eye. You realized it was getting harder to open, and your head was throbbing.
"Come in, fuck!" He said and hurried you into the house. He got you an ice pack and some pain reliever and then held you in his arms.
"Love, I'm so sorry to ask you this, but I need to know who did this to you," he said brushing a finger lovingly down your face.
"M-my dad," You admitted slowly.
"That bastard," Bob ground out.
Bob was your boyfriend and so you shared most things with him. However, you'd never directly told him your father abused you. You thought he'd probably guessed it, but you hadn't told him.
"Baby, I'm gonna kill him," Bob threatened. You could see the absolute fury burning through him at that moment. You laid your head on his chest, trying to calm him down.
"All that would do is get you thrown in jail," you reminded him.
"This can't go on!" He snarled angrily.
"I know, he's never actually punched me before," you sighed. "Only slapped me."
"Oh, yeah, only," Bob said sarcastically. "Only slapped, well that's great then."
"Bobby please," you whispered. "I need you to be on my side for this." Some of the anger drained from Bob’s eyes, and his sharp tone was gone.
"I know, I am on your side love, I'm just so mad," Bob said, pulling you even closer. He kissed your temple softly.
"You're staying here tonight," he whispered into your ear and kissed your cheek again.
"It'll only make things worse," you said sadly, you would've loved to stay the night.
"Then stay every night," Bob said quickly.
"What?" You demanded, turning toward him.
"Come live with me," he pleaded.
"B-Bob I-" you could hardly speak. "I can't."
"Why not?" Bob asked.
"It's not as simple as you think," you said in a shaky voice.
"I know it's not," he said sadly. "But you can't stay there anymore, if not with me, then somewhere else. What about your mom?"
"My mom... she doesn't want to see me," you stated.
"Why not, you're her daughter," he asked. You always felt so safe with Bob. You knew if you'd wanted him to drop the subject he would've, but you wanted him to know. You wanted him to be able to know all of you.
"I remind her of her old life, the one she left. She's always been kind of peeved that I stayed behind, like I chose dad over her," you admitted with a sigh.
"Why did you?" Bob asked in a small voice.
"I felt like I was abandoning him. I mean I loved him, he was my father. He was never mean to me before, just to my mother. I thought I could change him, and maybe our family could reunite. I was an idiot."
"No, you were sweet," Bob said gently, kissing you on the mouth. "It's one of the things I like best about you."
There was a short silence as you kissed Bobby. His lips were soft and sweet, and you felt incredibly secure in his arms.
"Now you must know," he whispered as you separated. He pressed his forehead against yours. "You must know that he doesn't love you anymore," Bob tried to say.
"He still loves me," you'd gotten used to defending your father.
"That," Bob spat. "That is not how you deserve to be loved!" He was angry again, and you could see his fists were clenched. However, you didn't feel scared when he did that.
"I'm sorry," he shook his head, trying to clear it.
"No, you're right," you said gently. "I can't fix him and I need to stop trying. Tonight showed me just where his priorities lie."
"Please," He got down on his knees in front of you. "Please say with me," he kissed both my hands.
"Bobby, I don't want to be a burden-"
"A burden!" He laughed. "You're never a burden, look y/n I was going to ask you to anyway."
"You were?" You said in surprise.
"Yes, I love you so damn much, I want to come home to you every day. I want to fall asleep with you at night. I don't want you to have to come running to my house when you're scared, I want you to already be in our house, where I can help comfort you anytime you need it."
"Oh Bob," you hardly knew what to say.
"Here," Bob reached into his back pocket. He pulled out a small golden band. "It's a promise ring, I know we don't have enough money to get married yet, but I want to someday. Please come stay with me."
"Yes, okay," you laughed happily and threw your arms around him. You kissed him over and over again as he slipped the ring on your finger.
"I love you, Bob Dylan," you said against his lips.
"I love you too," he whispered.
As the weeks went on you realized that you'd made the best decision of your life. Bobby was kind and loving and every day with him was like the best day of your life. You were able to get your stuff from the house one evening when you knew your father would be out. Though most of your things were at Bob’s already. For some reason, your father never bothered you. He never came and demanded why you left. Maybe it was like all those shows, you'd finally stood up to the bully, and he realized he didn't have any more power.
Though you had demons in your past, Bob was helping you see a better future. Sometimes you still felt guilty about leaving your father, but Bob was always there to remind you that it had never been your responsibility to fix him. You repaired your relationship with your mother and saw your brother much more often. The best part was every day Bobby reminded you how you deserved to be loved.

The last photo of Bob on the terrace, drinking white wine and wearing that raincoat and cap he’s had on all damn summer. He’s practically lived in that outfit, doing who knows what…
There are so many aromas and flavors here, and so many things I could do all night long, starting on that terrace, with a napkin and kindness.
1963!Bob Dylan x reader (gender unspecified)
Rating: this one is very PG
Warnings: slightly angsty, English not first language, might be edited.
Summary: Pretty much the title song of this fic, narrated from the perspective of Bob. Young artist longing.
Author notes: Had this stuck in my head, needed to get it out. Kinda short, kinda hectic, enjoy! Constructive criticism always welcome, especially in terms of typos/wording/punctuation.

An entire colony of shivers ran down Bob's spine as he felt a bid of sweat roll down the back of his neck - into the collar of his shirt, counting every vertebra. One of the stage lights at the venue was mercilessly radiating heat in its attempts to serve its sole purpose. Prior to becoming a known musician Bob has never pondered over practical and almost worldly inconveniences of being a performer. Music came first, and everything else was secondary. Now, sitting on a high wooden stool ready to deliver yet another song to a modestly sized audience, the young musician could not think about anything else. And yet, despite minute discomforts there was undeniably something charming in playing smaller, more personal shows, even after the whirlwind that his life has been in the months since Freewheeling was pressed onto vinyl. This is precisely why Bob still did them: sometimes at a bookstore or at a coffeehouse, anywhere where the intimate feeling of playing for people was still lingering in the air. Joan had a much easier time communicating with the terrific mass of people that was protest movement than Bob could ever wish for himself. Which, looking into himself, he did not know if he even did.
Slowly drifting away into his thoughts, the performer gently blew into his harmonica and tried a picking pattern to see if his instument was still in tune. The strings did not sound too bright - instead a warm tone started flowing from under Bob's fingers, demonstrating the strings' pride in the signs of their wear.
It was a hard pill to swallow, but for some time now Bob has been sensing a shift within himself. Uniquely renditioned and heartfelt every time before, now his songs came to him in a tired, excercised manner, flat in a way that stayed unnoticed by an uninvolved observer. Pieces like Masters of War or Talking World War III Blues have said all that they had to say, so it had been getting more and more easy for Bob to leave the delivery to the autopilot-of-head-and-hands and think about something else halfway through. It might sound like a contradiction, but at the same time Bob could also feel something building up in him, as if he was a spring, coiling tight before snapping and jumping into the mouth of the changing times, straight into the eye of the approaching storm. Something potent to show that behind the made-up symbol was a person, invisible despite being stared at, there, behind the blue eyes and devilish curls. People in this very room, however, were not ready for it just yet. Bob leaned to the microphone and announced:
‘Next song's a tune that's called A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall’. Upon this, a round of applause has made its way through the venue and the familiar strumming poured into the microphone. Bob's eyes stung slightly from all the cigarette smoke. He could go for a smoke himself.
While playing, Bob could not pinpoint what he was trying to connect with that particular night, his music or his audience. He was never interacting with the concertgoers all that much, always letting his songs speak for themselves, but sometimes being stuck in his head, alone, was simply too much. For a second he wondered whether he himself has become one of the 10,000 talkers with a broken tongue, without realising it? While his mind was roaming, his curious eyes were wondering as well. Among the hats, coats and chemically smelling updos in the dimly lit room something, or, rather, someone stood out. You leaned onto one of the decorative columns on the wall and listened, intentely and somewhat solemnly, a cigarette held pensively between your fingers. It didn't seem like you were particularly interested in smoking at that moment, but rather that you merely wanted to occupy your hands. Undeniably, there was something in the energy you exuded that made Bob's eyes linger and his chest tingle with warm eagerness. Was it the way your hair fell, your contours bent so sweetly or was it the intense focus you had on him like he was the only person in the world worth listening to? Was it the slight shock he felt at the sudden gravitational pull towards the shining star that was you? Bob quickly everted his eyes to avoid staring - looks have always been a delicate game, where one must tread lightly.
Yet, the musician knew he had to talk to you, he got tangled up in your magnetic force. He couldn't help but crave some closeness from this beautiful, breathtaking sight in front of him. He longed for learning the sound of your voice: was it low and husky or rather high with a more singing cadence? Should he speak with you, would you maintain this pensive disposition or would you let your laughter ring cheerfully for everyone to enjoy? What did your perfume smell like, your hair? How would it feel to dance with you, hear you whisper something into his ear, your warm body close to his?.. The next note he sang fell slightly flat. Suddenly Bob felt like an amateur and flustered like a boy.
Bob’s blue eyes darted back to you to see if you noticed, which, of course was a fatal mistake. When you two briefly made eye contact, the man felt his face flush slightly as if he got caught in something he was not supposed to be doing. Blessed be the stage lights for making up a good excuse! He couldn't help but grin a bit, the mood of the song now forgotten. As you dreamily averted your gaze, Bob was now persuaded you were partaking in this game of cat-and-mouse with him, and it made him feel bold. Your attention flattered him, he was but a man after all, his ego partial to the simple excitement of a beautiful woman such as yourself. After all, despite his natural wit, charm and ability to fill in any room he walked into with his presence alone, there was still a side of him that was all bones and angles, nose and a crooked grin, clothes not filled properly by body, young man who, mere months ago, wanted nothing but to play a song to his idol.
You smiled to some thought of your own and Bob felt another tug at the strings of his heart, ready to burst into song just like his guitar. Your eyes seemed to be on fire, but there was nothing to be done about it now. The song was long and there was more to be sung. From that moment Bob has dedicated this song to you entirely, whether you knew it or not. After that the young artist tried his best to focus and deliver his best performance. He even attempted not to look at you anymore to not let the rising heat in him be a distraction. Suddenly he became very aware of himself on that stage, of his unruly hair and the damned stage lights causing sweat to pool under his arms. When he approaches you, what does he say?..
And just like that, the song was over. The shy clinking of drinks put on tables and rustle of ashtrays being moved around - sounds that always precede applause in places like this - have reached the stage. The listeners were delighted. Bob stood up to thank the audience and bowed his head slightly.
‘Thank you, thank you’. He braced himself before looking towards the column where you stood, but you were gone. His grip on the neck of his guitar tightened slightly in confusion. Bob looked around the venue trying to find you as the content clapping of the listeners failed to die down. People are often greedy like that, they never want the entertainment to end, especially when the possibility of an encore is lingering around the corner. But just like that you were truly gone. Disappointment made Bob's chest feel tight. Could it be that you were only a figment of his longing imagination? Perhaps, you simply went outside and will be back soon? Maybe it is time for an encore after all.
Bob took a sip of water, sat back down on his tall stool and wondered, what song might be just good enough to summon you back.
