If you’re ever insecure about your body, look at old paintings and sculptures, for I have found that they tend to focus on portraying realism (as they tried to represent humanity) while photography tries to capture perfection

one of the best things i did for my self-esteem in the last year was learn about my kibbe body type. it helped me connect to my physical body more, knowing that there are a lot of people out there with similar body shapes. i had previously felt very alienated and alone, like a hodge-podge of shapes that didn't match up and were nearly impossible to dress well. but as it turns out, as a soft dramatic type, our figures are built for glamour, to be adorned, to stand fiercely and proudly in all of our glory.
i don't feel like i can fully embrace all of that energy yet, but i am beginning to feel more ownership, to dress better, to find things that fit my body better, and in turn, this has really actually helped me find more body peace. i'm less interested in cloaking my body in shapeless bags and more open to flattering and featuring the broader parts of my body. it's new for me, but i am feeling pretty optimistic about where this could take me.
learning to sit with your feelings & to fully open your heart, to yourself and your life is one of the greatest skills you can master. intense emotions, pain, discomfort, chaos etc. are all signs of transformation and does by no means mean that something is wrong. you're doing great even if you feel like sh*t, give yourself a hug and some softness today + everyday 🪴 // say hi!
I got more fairy lights and finally put them all up yesterday, then proceeded to take random selfies in a crop top and sweatpants in the dark because I wanted to show of the lights 😂😅.
For years, I have resented my body. Peirced my soul with daggers of insults. All for the fact I could not fit the mold they wanted my shape to be. So I ended my cycle of hatred. Then my soul held my body around her. Pressed her lips on my ear as she whisphered "I am sorry'" "I love you," "I accept you," "You are perfect the way you are,". My body cried. For she was the house my soul was looking for all this time.

You kept me hungry outside, looking in on your lavish buffet on the moon looking down to paradise Claimed I was too heavy took up too much space First forbid butter, then margarine First forbid fruit, then fed me nothing but left me nothing but bread then took that as well And don't I dare ever mention the blood birthed with excruciating pain which I'm faking for attention howling from the moon I am fed up on hunger and your rules I'll come down to were you are fight and eat you alive and your world will end.

2015 vs 2017 booty gains. My butt has always been one of my biggest insecurities. One day I decided I was going to work on it and today I am so very proud of myself. Hopefully next year I will have a bigger and better booty, but for now this will suffice. I will continue to push myself and not give up on my goals.
In lieu of some real tough times with my body lately (body image issues & dissociation, a slowing metabolism & trying to navigate this new stage of life, visible and invisible illnesses, etc.), I want to take a moment and praise my body for all it’s been through and all it continues to go through. Our anatomy is really something miraculous. And a lot of the time, we don’t give it enough credit. At least I know I don’t.
So here I am, feeling real good and embracing my pear to its fullest in this cute outfit (the top was another #thrifted find from today), despite the recent diagnosis and a really, really painful moon cycle. ✨ Just wanna shine some light on the small & good things.
