Summary: When Merlin is attacked by the Dorocha, saving Arthur's life in the process, Arthur refuses to let him die. He's freezing to death, and they can't make it to Gaius in time, so he takes some advice Gaius gave him long ago.

Freezing Whumpee, who is close to dying of hypothermia, snuggles up to Caretaker when Caretaker came to rescue them. They drank into the warm touch as the body warmth of Caretaker took over their own body.

Caretaker, while surprised, let's them do this--it was the best way to keep Whumpee warm till the others arrived with the necessary items to help Whumpee.

BONUS: Caretaker had a crush on Whumpee, and this caused them to flush like mad. ❤️

There’s a small detail that’s only brought up briefly in ‘The Terror’ that’s really weirdly interesting to me. After the crews abandon the ships and start trekking south, one of Crozier’s chapters mentions reindeer-skin sleeping bags that fit 3 people. Two people, I can understand, but three? I don’t know, it just strikes me as a weird number.

I found the chapter again (Chapter 36) and no, Crozier doesn’t share one with anyone, because Jopson has a one-person (that was specially tailored) one laid out for him. If he had a regular 3-person bag, he would’ve shared with 2 officers (the book doesn’t state which ones). Here’s the paragraph:

“The three-person reindeer-skin sleeping bags were many times warmer than the sewn-together Hudson’s Bay blanket bags, and these good bags had been drawn by lottery.” (After Jopson lays out the one-person sleeping bag) “...Nor had he told Jopson or the others that sleeping in a bag by one’s self was much chillier than his experience sleeping in three-man bags. The other men’s body heat was the only thing that kept them warm enough to sleep through the night.”
