It just occurred to me about BONCAS, that while, yes Dan was working with Phil the entire year, he basically just brought his partner up on stage. Like, I've watched a lot of award shows in my life and I've never seen anything like that before or since.

Your partner is in your thank yous, you kiss them and hug them before taking the stage, but calling them up?

But then again, Phil couldn't do that. he couldn't thank Dan in the way he'd want to, he couldn't hug or kiss him before going up, so he did this instead.
