Never built a tactile timeline with a cork board before. Maybe I’ll actually follow the plan instead of driving off the path again.

My dog Sunday doesn’t understand the through-line but he’s confused easily. Perhaps he’s not meant to read.

Lestat de Lioncourt has lived with Louis de Pointe du Lac in Pointe du Lac for five years. He brought his aging, ill, and blind father with him, still doing his best to be the dutiful, good, son. But his father is no kinder now in his old age than he had been in Lestat's youth, and sometimes his disgust over his youngest son gets the better of him. That's what happened tonight, and all Lestat wants is to lose himself in his husband's arms.

The book/show combo au where Louis is a wealthy Creole plantation owner (who I refuse to make a slave owner, jfc), with a well paid household and farm staff that tend to look the other way on their employer's oddities. Including having a blond menace who acts like the other lord of the house. Oh, and the mysterious stains often found on the furniture.

It's really just pwp, but they are in love and cute together.

I think something people have to remember is Lestat in the show was 150 years old when he came to America for the first time. 150 years old. That’s only about 30 years younger than he was at the start of The Vampire Lestat book. (And at this point in the show, he’s over 160 years old now.)

Lestat, in the Interview with the Vampire book, was still pretty much a fledgling himself when he came to America (turned in 1781, and came to America in 1791 - 10 years apart). And he was still very impetuous about everything he did. 

In the show, because of the age up, he’s less impetuous but way more outside humanity now as well. Like he was after Queen of the Damned. 

You can see that change in how both chose Louis as their companion. In the book, Lestat attacked Louis and drained him to the point of death first before having spoken even one word to him. Louis becoming a vampire in the book was pretty much a fait accompli after that - either become a vampire, or he would die. And the whole thing took 3 nights.

In the show, he basically courted (or hunted as Louis put it) him first, and it was only when he got ghosted that he went full vampire psycho-mode in front of Louis. And all that took at least a month, if not a bit longer. 

Guess I’m trying to say that amc Lestat is way more outside of humanity at this point in the story than the book Lestat was, simply because of their ages in each telling of the story. But with the same damn issues book-Lestat had at this point in the story still. 

He’s also clearly kept a safe bubble around himself, Louis, and Claudia in New Orleans. Because, well, he’s old enough to have the power to do that here, a power Rice’s older vampires have the ability to do, to keep other vampires away from their territory. There clearly are other vampires in the US now, though not too many. In contrast, there really were none back in 1791 for Lestat to really worry about.

If you’ve read the book, then you know Europe - or at least Paris - was a bad idea to go to. With the way the timeline has changed, being made older as it were, why do I now feel that it’ll probably be worse than that? Because I do.

Speaking of Adam's birthday, do we know when in the week it is for the main story? All I know is that it's in August on a Wednesday. I've heard August 20th, but that fell on a Sunday in 2018.

Hiya :), in the book it’s August 20 or August 21 because on the same day as is the Warlock’s birthday party (Wednesday) Aziraphale and Crowley go to the manor where takes place ‘August 20-21: United Holdings [Holdings] PLC Initiative Combat Course’.

August 20 and August 21 in 2018 are Monday and Thuesday and Crowley and Aziraphale visit the manor on Thursday in the show (the day after the birthday), so it doesn’t fit.  🤔 I don’t know if we see the date in the show somewhere. But if we stayed in the same week as 20 and 21 of August, then Adam’s and Warlock’s show eleventh birthday would be Wednesday 22 August, 2018. :)

Theory: The show’s timeline is around the time of Merrick

Side note: when talking about the timeline, I’m not saying every single thing that happened in the books prior have all already happened. For example, I don’t think Akasha has risen yet. I really think that whole thing is going to tie into the “great conversion” thing Louis told Daniel about (with Akasha rising in response to it.)  

The full timeline of the show is a patchwork jumble anyway, because it kinda has to be. Daniel not getting to publish the first interview was basically a butterfly effect moment in time. (Just like Lestat waiting 150 years before coming to America was one as well.) So not every single event that happened post-Interview happened. 

But Rashid - if he is to be believed - saying Louis is trying to off himself by giving Daniel this interview to publish in a book had me thinking: despite how depressed and detached Louis was for all those years - in both the books and the show - he never tried to end himself. 

Except once. And that was in the book Merrick. 

I won’t go into why he tried to do it. All I’ll say is, he came damn close to succeeding when he attempted it. The issue was, he was actually too old and had powerful enough blood in him that the suns rays couldn’t 100% reduce him completely to ash-dust anymore. 

Lestat woke up from his years-long, post-Memnoch coma when Louis was reduced to this state, and helped to save him. 

In the show, we’ve seen that the sun can harm Louis in the present time of 2022. But maybe, as in the book Merrick, it can’t fully kill him anymore. I don’t know if he knows that or not, but maybe he suspects it? It’s possible. So the book, aside from being a warning to humanity, is a way to draw other vampires to him and have the hostile ones be the ones to end him instead.

Another thing. Claudia’s diary played a major role in the storyline of the book Merrick. (She only had one diary in the books.) I don’t think Louis was BSing when he told Daniel that many of the diaries got lost and scattered over the years. In the books, a group called the Talamasca have Claudia’s diary and its stolen from them, which is how Louis gets a hold of it. I think the same could be true here. I think we’re set to meet/learn about the Talamasca in the upcoming Mayfair Witches tv series. And speaking of the Mayfairs . . .

Merrick herself is a Mayfair. They could use that as a way to do a small crossover when that series premieres in January, if they wanted.

I was already pretty sure the 2022 setting of the show was post-Queen of the Damned, with the exception of Akasha having not risen yet. I think Claudia’s diaries and Rashid saying Louis is trying to die narrows it down even more IMO.
