BookCon2018 wrap up
I looked and looked for what to expect before I went and still ended up winging it. So here is what I learned.
1. Unless you have the self control of a saint, you will leave with dozens of books. Plan for playing book Tetris and pack an extra bag or a way to ship.
2. A lot of it is up to chance. Pay attention and keep your eyes out.
3. Not everyone has signs explaining the situation. I found the best result by asking if they are offering discounts... If it's free they say so, if not then it's not the same as asking "all this free, right?" And it never got awkward.
4. If you're buying at one of the big booths (scholastic, Harper Collins, Epic reads) engage and ask for a recommended. If they like you, sometimes they toss an ARC your way.
5. Express what your preference is even if it's a spinner / random chance and if it doesn't land on the book you wanted they might sub in the one you wanted.
6. Respect the queue, but if someone has to pee, be human and hold their spot.
7. Have a throw away email. I'm gonna spend 12 months clearing myself off of mailing lists... Rookie move.
8. Walk the whole space to scope out where the bathrooms are, vending, food, there were two Starbucks one with a line and one downstairs without...
9. Find the restaurant Milk and get a crack pie.
10. Did I mention you need another bag?
I got the first piece of my recently (stockpiled) artwork up! This amazing #Truthwitch poster I received from @stdennard fit so well with the pinks and purples in my room. I have a slight (giant) love for gallery walls so you’ll be seeing more of them as I get them up! I can’t wait to show to you all the #nerdwall I’ll be building in the dining room when the frames arrive this coming week!
soooo i went to BookCon today and came back with quite the haul ♡
Go see this wonderful lady today at @thebookcon! #Repost @cassieclare1 ・・・ See you at Bookcon! #today #bookcon2018 #nyc #shadowhunters #tsc
