✨✨✨𝓗𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓸, 𝓫𝓸𝓸𝓴𝓲𝓼𝓱 𝓯𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓭𝓼!✨✨✨ A very busy afternoon in the office for me today. I only managed to post this because I needed a breather from the piles and piles of vouchers that are calling my name 🤣 𝙌𝙊𝙏𝘿: Well, not really a question, but drop your contemporary book recs in the comments below 🙂 I just realized how lacking my contemporary reads are. This is one of the few that I’ve read and enjoyed, but I haven’t dived into the next two books just yet. One thing is for sure: I’m gonna have an unboxing once I get home because my order of Clockwork Angel 10th Anniversary Edition just arrived 😭 Will talk to you guys later 😘 #TheBookwormPrincess👸🏻 #bibliophile #bookstagram #books #readersofig #igreads #booklover #bookaholic #mybookfeatures #bookstagramcommunity #booklovers #booksandmagic #bookwormadventures #PageTurnersPh #Everyday #AnotherDay #Someday #DavidLevithan #Contemporary (at Bookstagram) https://www.instagram.com/p/CD_CUtSgZ1R/?igshid=u84z4pnd12mg

I completely agree with you! I've also noticed many movies/tv shows do the same with awkward moments: they show you it's awkward and immediately jump to another scene, without showing how the character resolved the situation they were in. It frustrates me every time, even though I understand the need to not drag on the awkwardness.
Yes! You’re so right!
I LOVE the world of Newford. Charles De Lint's novella's in Dreams Underfoot was the first time I met and started to fall for Jilly Coppercorn. She is one of my favourite characters! I would also love to see this series as a Netflix show. The community and characters are so fully developed, I can picture walking the streets of Newford and grabbing a drink with my faves or would do well in a long running into the fae. #NewBookginnings17 Favourite Novella / #GrimDragon Here's why (book series) should be a Netflix show. What series would you like to see as a Netflix show? ☆ #bookstagram #charlesdelint #newford #jilliancoppercorn #fae #urbanfantasy #yalit #fantasybooks #booksandmagic #bookchallenge #bookstagramfeatures #bookishallure #bookishfeatures #bookstagramit #bookishglee

Forgot to write I've seen the montage done for moments in which characters have to put in a lot of effort, like all the workout or weight-loss montages. Shouldn't the story be about the hard work the character puts in, too?
That is a really excellent point.

Having made normal meringue by hand in a home ec class in the late 90s, I will say "good gravy Italian meringue requires TWO PEOPLE?" Madness! :P
LOL! Well, you have to be beating the eggs while you pour the syrup in, and it’s really very difficult to manage a bowl, beater, and syrup if you only have two hands!

Why do you write gnocchi as "gnocci"? Is that something people in the US do?
No, I’m just a loser who for some reason can’t get it into my head that there’s an H in it :D

please tell me where you find CHEAP maple syrup because that is not a thing that I have ever seen
Well, cheap is relative. I mostly meant like the kind you can get in a bucket from Costco, which is reasonably priced but not very high-quality.

it had genuinely never occurred to me that Americans might home cook with corn syrup (or that it'd end up in marshmallows at all! that's what sugar syrup is for!) and I guarantee 100% of your non-US followers are making the same D: face I did
I mean, don’t take away the impression that it’s common -- we do use it occasionally but unless you’re a hardcore baker it’s pretty rare. It’s not like every house has a bottle the way we’d have a box of sugar or something.

Oh my God @copperbadge, you’ve never tried herb butters?! They’re amazingly useful. You only need a little to add a really good zing to… well, pretty much anything: potatoes, steamed veg, roasts, sandwiches, whatever you like. You can easily play around with the recipes, too, making up new combinations and adding whatever you think will work with a particular dish. I really like orange and thyme butter; it makes a great rub for Christmas turkey, and a tastes really good on cornbread. And parmesan and basil butter is amazing on sweet corn.
Oh, I mean, I’ve had herbed butter, it just didn’t occur to me that I could make it myself. I think probably because most people put it on veggies and I don’t eat veggies :D But I’ve used it for cooking turkeys now that I think on it.
revengers + coffee shop au?
The king’s decision to sail towards Earth, it turns out, is not exactly popular with his subjects. “The thing is, King Doug,” Korg says apologetically, “It sounds like Earth is a bit of a backwater? And the bulk of the crew is wondering why, exactly, we’re not headed for…..say, anywhere else in civilization.” Korg was voted general crew spokesperson almost immediately. Thor doesn’t entirely put it past him to try staging another extremely polite revolution, which is undoubtedly why Asgard likes him. “Earth is a fine planet,” Thor tries to reassure him, looking to his most trusted advisors for corroboration.Valkyrie shrugs. “Never been,” she says. “The locals aren’t exactly friendly,” Loki says, with a thin smile. “Frankly barbaric plumbing,” Heimdall adds, with a slight wince that Thor takes to mean he’s seen things he regrets having seen. “Can you name one thing Earth has,” Korg asks, spreading his hands in a conciliatory way, “That, say, Xandar doesn’t have?” “COFFEE,” the Hulk puts in, sticking his head in the door of the ready room. “HULK MISS COFFEE!” “Coffee!” Thor says with a triumphant snap of his fingers. “An Earth delicacy, available nowhere else in the galaxy!” “Actually,” Heimdall says slowly, “That’s not bad.” He raises an eyebrow at Loki. “Oh no,” Loki says, shaking his head. “I’m not doing it.” “It’s a PR problem,” Heimdall points out, since declaring something ‘a PR problem’ and then being utterly unwilling to do anything about it is Loki’s new favorite pastime. “How would you characterize coffee?” Korg asks, politely doubtful. “Does it have, like, a really nice resale value? Is it very shiny?” Thor turns to his brother, hopeful. “Can you truly make coffee, brother, using your magic?” Val raises both eyebrows at Loki, and the Hulk slams a fist down on the floor, sending a worrying crack down the center of the bulwark. “HULK WANT LATTES,” he says emphatically. “GIVE HULK LATTES.” Loki rubs his temples. * It takes them a few tries to operate the machinery Loki magics up–or, he claims to have magicked it up, but given that the enormous silver and glass espresso machine is engraved with STARK INDUSTRIES on the front, Thor has his doubts about the original provenance of the equipment–but eventually they all become quite proficient at it. Thor’s subjects fall in love with coffee as quickly as he hopes they will all fall in love with Earth, sub-par plumbing and complex relationships with the locals be damned. There’s nearly a riot when they run out of beans the first time, but Loki steals them another fifty pounds from what Thor is increasingly certain is Stark’s personal collection, looking surprised and pleased to be needed. Thor buys himself some general goodwill by taking a few shifts at the espresso machine, pouring out lattes and cold brews and cappuccinos and whatever else Loki informs him the machine is capable of doing, looking around with satisfaction at his people, talking seriously and enthusiastically over tiny cups of foam-capped coffee, the drug sharpening their minds to make the conversation so much the better. Even the Hulk is grasping a tureen of latte and participating in a debate, although the eighty-year old girl arguing with him over the rules of checkers possesses a good deal more bravery than sense. Thor makes an absent note to recruit her for the guards in a few years. “On Earth, these were once known as penny universities,” Heimdall informs him, shaking some sugar into his doppio espresso. “Because any man of any rank could purchase a cup for a penny, and thereby receive an education.” “A worthy history,” Thor says, “And one I am glad Asgard has taken up.” Heimdall gives him a faint smile, then walks away. Things are going all right, Thor thinks proudly. * “The thing is, King Doug,” Korg says gently, “We’ve all been having a good talk down at the Sacred Grounds. Brilliant name for a coffee house, by the way! I personally love it.” “But,” Thor says, resigned. “But,” Korg says, patting him on the arm, “As we’ve been talking, we’ve managed to come to some interesting conclusions about representation and hereditary monarchies.” “Are you declaring a mutiny?” Thor asks, rubbing a hand over his mouth. “Oh no, no, no,” Korg says, and presses the coffee he’d brought as a peace offering into Thor’s hand. “We’d like to hold elections.” * Loki stands with him as the results pour in, attempting to be consoling but unable to hide his grin. He’s running unopposed for court witch. “At least they still want you to lead the army,” he says. Heimdall is currently leading the King ballot, and Thor has no delusions that the tides will turn anytime soon. “Was it honestly coffee that felled the monarchy?” he asks, blinking with exhaustion. “Coffee?” Loki claps him on the arm. “Welcome to the Republic of Asgard,” he says. __________SUBVERSION MEME | Ask Me Things!
