As a child, I used to write little short stories about fairies and faraway lands. But, I stopped when I was a teenager, opting to write realistic YA fiction & YA historical fiction. I never thought I'd go back to writing a fairytale let alone a retelling. It was a genre I rediscovered and I am so glad I did.
