I was tryna go to sleep when my eyes shot open and I had some thoughts
so I LOVE the idea of boris going to New York, showing up maybe a month or two later just to give some of that angst we need, but here are some inception-type headcanons I imagine with him being there
he knows immediately that hobie is a good man because he takes care of ‘his potter’ and welcomed him into his home. that being said...
-he probably wouldn’t shower for a few days longer than the average person, and would take very quick showers or share one with theo because he worried about hobie’s water bill
-hobie confronts him about this and tries to tell him that he shouldn’t have to worry about it. he’s only a kid
-him eating only small portions of meals for awhile because his stomach isn’t used to having so much
-hiding snacks in the drawers of the room he shares with theo because it’s a habit and he’s scared to be struggling with food again
-he gets nightmares too, and just like he consoles theo through his, theo does the same for boris as best as he can
-when he gets sick he refuses to go to the doctors for awhile, but eventually he’s forced
-when him and theo undress to their undergarments for a general check up, hobie is shocked to see how thin they are underneath the heavy sweaters, and all the scars on boris’ skin
-hobie sits them down when they get home (a word boris has only just begun to realize exists for him) and talks to them about how he’s there for them and wants for them to tell him whenever something is wrong. they try their best to do this
-the more and more he’s in New York, boris starts to exhibit some withdrawal symptoms. weed and cigarettes are really the only things he’s had in the time there, and a bit of alcohol here and there. theo was the same way but less so
-one day he’s caught in the school bathroom smoking weed, and he gets suspended and evaluated by the nurse whilst hobie is in the room. she asks them questions regarding his condition and when all the symptoms seem to match, he’s set on a recovery mission where he’ll have a twice weekly visit to the nurse and guidance counselor, and will be monitored
-boris hates this, theo is nervous, and hobie is worried. he tells him how it’ll all be alright, and he’s there, and so is theo. they all cry that night, and boris finally opens up about his dad and about how the drugs were the only thing to make the pain and hunger go away, and theo admits that while it wasn’t as severe, he had gone through things similar while they were at Vegas
-hobie decides ‘family’ therapy might be a good idea, and he asks them before making an appointment. they’re not too open to it at first—theo more so, but eventually they agree and within two weeks they’re in a small, homey room doing some basic ice breakers
These are just some,,, ideas I had, I suppose about what life might’ve been like for them and boris specifically if he really did go like most of us wish he had
