Reasons Not to Attend BPU
If you’re a/have a... -Veteran, good luck getting them to recognize the GI Bill or any other resources the government promised to you to get your education. -Homeless or at risk of being so, they will throw you to the curb with no compassion, as attested by both alumni and current attendees. -LGBTQ+, does little to nothing for their trans community, actually expelled a transguy for having the gall to transition in college, almost prevented one from graduating and nearly misgendered him on his diploma, does not accept pretransition or nontransitioning transwomen, and dimishes the rest of the queer population on campus. -Mentally Ill/Neurodivergent, getting any sort of accommodation is like pulling teeth and outside of the few professors that understand, they often believe the mentally ill can just think themselves better. -History of SH or SI, point blank, these students have been expelled, silenced and sometimes rarely, never heard from again. The on campus therapy is a joke and any hint of not doing well could land you on the first vehicle out. -Chronic Illness/Physical Disabilities, with mandatory attendance and lack of accessibility in multiple facilities, getting around or even maintaining your course load when you have to be in the hospital or receiving treatment means watching your grade get docked a half letter for every day outside of four excused absences. Religious/Spiritual/Cultural Minority, the diversity inclusion office is a joke, Islamophobia runs rampant and there’s little to no support for the fact that students of color are constantly undermined by a facility that does not respect our ideas and contributions. Commutter or Nonresident, barely any parking and no space for these students to be included in events, activities or care about their safety when you look at the attendance policy and New England weather. -Struggling Graduate, they promise aid and job placement as well as internships that will supposedly lead you into full or part time paid work. Lofty, ambitious and full of hot air. Students are forced to find their own internship, unpaid and stack the transportation costs on top of the time commitment while enduring no reprise from their classes.
