Branch was Windstar’s (at the time Wind) good friend. They were very close, and when Wind loses her mother and sister, he keeps her company and makes sure she ate. When they were hunting a rabbit, they got attacked by a dog. Wind gets bit bad, and Branch abandons her. It fractures their friendship and he dies before they meet again
