I’m an obvious fan of #brandina - but I do enjoy both ladies paired with Darren Dreamer actually
It is already well-established that Dina is into older guys, so that checks out. What Darren appreciates (aside from her being hot, obviously) is Dina’s sense of humor, zest for life - and her shrewd business acumen. She notices a painting of his at a local coffee shop. She starts talking it up to who she thinks is a stranger in line for coffee, but it is actually the artist himself, there to pick up drinks for himself and Dirk (dark chocolate mocha for Dirk, black coffee for Darren). Darren is shy, but Dina is not. They strike up an unexpected friendship and then romance. Dina is convinced that the reason Darren hasn’t been able to succeed financially with his art is how he’s marketing himself - and she ends up being 100% right. He’s able to pursue art full-time and she’s able to sell it, - and very well too! Dina appreciates his gentle spirit and really believes in his creative drive. Darren loves how Dina always spins things in a positive light. They have a strong base of friendship and enjoy spending time together. Dirk gets a stepmom who is completely unlike Darleen, but it’s not a bad thing. She’s actually more stern with Dirk than Darren is; because the feedback comes from her, Dirk listens. Lilith wants to be annoyed by Dina’s bleach blonde Barbie sheen when she visits Dirk’s house…but she’s actually really cool and funny and bakes banana bread. The couple ends up throwing lots of very chic but understated parties for a select few friends in their wonderfully curated home.

Brandi and Darren meet in the sidelines of a high school basketball ball game - both Dirk and Dustin are on the team. They are cordial but shy with each other, but have each other’s contact information for team carpool. Darren catches Brandi losing her lunch behind the bleachers during a game. Darren is so kind to her with a handful of coffee shop napkins and a soft word about how his late wife was when she had morning sickness with Dirk, that Brandi breaks down crying. They keep in contact, share chaste jokes and keep their interactions very above-board and polite. But Brandi remembers Darren’s kindness, and Darren is touched by what a thoughtful, hands-on mom Brandi is. Darren drives Dustin home after a sleepover one night, and while attempting their courteous goodyes, Dustin blurts out, “Just friggin’ go on a dang date you guys, gawwwd.” They do. They connect over being single parents, the sorrow over their deceased spouses, about being worried about money, and about being lonely. They end up making a beautiful blended family. They never have a lot of cash to spare, but they have a home filled with tenderness. They are the kind of family that sends out holiday cards that have enclosed pictures where everyone wears matching pajamas. Dirk and Dustin get to be brothers. Dustin stops messing around and does better in school, because he doesn’t want to disappoint Darren. Angela lowkey wishes her own family was so cohesive. Beau and baby Broke get a much more stable father than they ever got with Skip.
