Spider-Woman: Origin #4 (2006)
Not long finished Ms. Marvel Volume 1: Best of the Best by Brian Reed and I picked this up as I was curious to read a story of Carol as Ms Marvel since all the stories I have read with Carol in them, she was Captain Marvel. This also one that takes place after an event called House of M which I have heard of and seen in shops, but I don't actually know what it's about.
As for the story itself, it was an interesting one with Carol wanting to properly establish herself and then dealing with the Brood who I have heard of before, but never really known what they are, now I kind of do.
The second story in this saw her going up against a magic user called Will Traveler that saw Carol teaming up with Stephen Strange, and it feels like maybe there was some set up for the two of them to maybe become something more.
This is definitely one of the earliest Marvel stories I have read as it talks about the act that set off Civil War coming into effect.
But yeah, it was interesting to read a story about her before she became Captain Marvel.

Top 7 Things I Enjoyed in 2024: Number 7
I'm not sure what's going on at Marvel Comics. We live in an era where Marvel properties are at their most recognizable. This is despite the hit-or-miss quality of the MCU post-Endgame. Still the comics branch feels allergic to good ideas. Little of what has been coming out is good. The coolest comics are coming from indie products and Japan.
For years, the face of this collapse has been Carol Danvers. Her stint as Captain Marvel has been disastrous for the company as a whole. Her comics are bad. Her last movie was the worst performance of any MCU film. I don't even care what they're doing now with her, and I'm not alone. The question remains: how can Marvel make fans love Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel?
For now, the answer seems pretty simple. You don't.
