Tell me, O Goddess

when they weave their words into worlds

do they still beseech you to grant them inspiration?

Brigid, of smiths, of healing, of poets

do you crown them with their wish

whether they do or don’t ask?

Goddess of many names, which have you favoured?

Bride, Brigantia, Saint Brigid

were you shaped by them as time passed

and again, and again, 

as folk put letters upon you anew?

In this age of constructs that pierce the sky 

and disdain for ancestral beliefs

what is it that keeps you here, watching over 

as the twentieth day stretches on for centuries?

Let it be that you yet know remembrance. 

Let it be that you get know honour. 

O Brigid, know that the poets still pray.

Brigid's presence is so gentle, the main word that comes to my mind when I think of her is 'Mother'. She reminds me of all the flowers but in particular those flowers who have the gentlest of scents, like jasmine and lily. She also reminds me of the Moon.
