Britcom RPF Exchange

Britcom RPF Exchange is a fic and art exchange for all fandoms under the British Comedian RPF fandom umbrella. This will be a full round this time, not a flash! Minimum work requirements are one complete fanfic of at least 500 words, or one nice sketch of original art, digital or traditional, on clean, unlined paper.

For this exchange, a Fandom can be the main umbrella British Comedian RPF fandom, or it can also be any relevant shows, such as Would I Lie To You? RPF, or Taskmaster RPF if you want to specify the relationship within the context of that show or time period. For example, if you want Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton within The League of Gentlemen time period, you would nominate those two as characters under The League of Gentlemen RPF fandom. If you want the same people during Inside No.9 period, then they would be nominated under Inside No.9 RPF, and so on.

I find it very funny that between James and Ed you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at them which is the least conformist.

Because James wears sweaters and corduroy. He was brought up a good little christian boy. When he started doing comedy, he bought some sweaters, dress shirts and slacks to wear, because he thought it would be funny, but that's just a totally normal outfit.

But he also quit school to play in experimental bands, and be generally punk. Not particularly caring about money, or housing, or anything that wasn't making the thing he wanted to make. Has always wanted to be on stage and be the center of attention

Meanwhile, Ed grew up an absolute terror. Reaking havock on every educational institute he entered. Used to plaster cars with newspaper and beer, with his friends. Was once in a band called "tethered priest" because he was trying to be anti religious.

But he's always had a deep and intrinsic need to be liked. Always required approval and validation from peers. Always needs to have the "right answer" to a social situation / question, rather than necessarily give his own opinion. Would rather fade into the background in polite company than have all eyes on him. Made jokes about his weight before other people had the chance. Etc.

There's a lot in the fandom about how James doesn't want to be considered "weird" when Ed is very happy to use that label, but between the two of them, James is so much better at being authentically strange, and nonconformist, while Ed's weirdness all boil down to standard cis het white boy who wants to be liked by his peers quirks. Just a really interesting dynamic.
