First broadcast in 1988, the Cosgrove Hall series followed Duckula, his gloomy butler Igor and the accident-prone Nanny. Together they travelled the world inside Castle Duckula, a Transylvanian castle capable of disappearing and reappearing in distant locations. Voiced by David Jason, Count Duckula became one of the most recognisable characters from British children’s television during the late 1980s and early 1990s. They’re making British magical girls! This is not a drill! I repeat this is not a drill we are getting an indie animated show about magical girls set in London! (video is from Magic.Gyaldem on tik tok tho the animatic is by @ giuseppe_dellolio on instagram)

It’s completely brand new and there’s not much about it yet but I’m so here for it 🥰it’s about 5 teenage girls from London balancing trying to balance their normal lives with being magical girls.

I dunno about you is right up my alley and I will be following along to see how it comes out.

Apparently it’s been in active development for 2 years as part of the BBC Ignite programme. An initiative that gives fully funded dev opportunities to animated tv series if they think they’ve got cool and interesting premises.

It’s not often me and the BBC are in agreement but this is definitely one of those instances.

Also some people have been accusing them of using AI because you know god forbid a new show has different people working on it and has a somewhst inconsistent art style. But they’ve come out and confirmed that no they don’t use AI at all in this.

I was originally going to add a blue background but decided against it
