08.09.19-08.11.19 - Practising my essay writing skills before all the upcoming assignments deadlines here 😝.. So, it’s been 2 months now since we arrived in Glasgow, Scotland UK to spend at least 1 year here as I pursue my MSc, Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Technology at Strathclyde Business School under the #Chevening scholarship. 22 years ago I came to the UK for my A-levels and stayed for 6 years until I graduated with an honours degree. It was one of the most memorable 6 years of my life and I was excited to be experiencing the student life again.. However, my expectation of the UK from my previous experience isn’t aligned with the reality. I felt really welcomed the first time I arrived in the UK and things were simpler back then but oh my, how things have changed… The past few months have been one of the most stressful, testing and challenging experiences of my life. It used to be easy being an international student in the UK but I suppose with the upcoming #brexit & 1212 general election - comes all the #brules (says google). I was surprised that a lot of things have become more complicated and expensive, especially if you’re a Tier4 student with dependents. From the visa application, registering as a student, right to finding a house - it was such a painful process... Talk about different types of culture shock! I never expected pursuing a master's degree to be a walk in the park, neither did I expect to go through so much obstacles even before the actual course started but this is just my honest sharing and what I have been through so far. Despite that, of course I will forever be grateful for this once in a lifetime opportunity and I know I will grow learning from these humbling experiences. I sincerely hope things will only get better from here on & at the end of this journey - it’s all gonna be worth it… Ameen! 🤲🏼😇🎓 #CabaranChevening #thecheveningbrothers #iamchevening #mycheveningjourney #2monthson #strathlife #cerpen (at United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4n5ezFHNbd/?igshid=15mn3mw43cdq3
