They went to go see Kpop Demon Hunters together
Louisa loves the music, Lucy's favourite characters are Mira and the tiger, Poe thought that demon crow was very inspiring
I’m bored— dorm alignments yall.
Atsushi shares a dorm with Kyouka, who’s his adoptive sister, and Tanizaki. (+ Kyouka’s bunnies.) It’s a nice cozy place, but always loud— either Atsushi struggling with his beads, Kyouka blasting K-pop at max volume with a straight face or Tanizaki practicing with the drums. Tanizaki prefers to live in the dorm, but he does have a house, which has a garage— that’s where the band meets up.
Akutagawa shares a room with Gin and Tachihara. He stays locked in his room most of the time, with his music, black decor, shiny rock collection and sketches. Gin is the most responsible one, Tachihara wants to help with the chores but always fucks up, and Akutagawa only handles his own chores.
Dazai and Chuuya are roommates (duh). The place is a mess. And loud. They broke a total of five different pieces of furniture. Dazai’s computer flew out the window once. Do not enter, it’s for your own good.
Fyodor and Nikolai are roommates. Nikolai does all the chores because he wants to be helpful to Fyodor (he does them badly. The place is a disaster. the dishwasher begs for mercy). Vodka everywhere, bible verses everywhere, and sometimes some random shit that doesn’t belong there because Dazai breaks in to bother them on the regular.
Higuchi lives in an apartment alone. It’s a mess. Gin constantly goes to visit her and ends up cleaning everything up and cooking her a nice meal
Ranpo, Yosano and Kouyou are roommates. No responsible functioning adult in this dorm, they’re all like “eh, the others will handle it”. No chore is getting done absolutely none. The only thing that isn’t awful is the cleanliness because Yosano is a med student and is very nitpicky about hygiene. Everything else couldn’t be achieved even if a bomb blew up in the sink
Poe doesn’t live in the dorms, he has a house (a fucken mansion) not too far from campus. His only roommate is Karl. And sometimes Ranpo, who just shows up at random like he owns the place. Everything’s fine kinda, if you ignore the fact that the place is clearly haunted by all kinds of horrors. But the backyard isn’t always great because Poe lets the band hold concerts there.
Lucy and Louisa are roommates. Atsushi and Kyouka are there constantly for “girl nights”— Louisa also invited Poe once, it didn’t go well, Karl got stuck in Anne’s room by accident and everyone panicked. The place is surprisingly nice and squeaky clean, because Lucy decorates really well and Louisa keeps the whole thing in perfect condition. Always smells like baked goods and books— very cozy overall, 10/10 dorm.
Mushitarou and Yokomizo are roommates. At first glance the place seems perfectly normal, but sometimes you’ll hear Mushitarou screaming and someone gets the police called. Sometimes it’s something that they fucked up terribly, like their dinner on fire or something, sometimes it’s stuff that Mushitarou would rather not disclose. pretty clean, simple mostly traditional decor, and one single bed. Hmmmm. I wOnDeR wHy
Lovecraft lives in the sea. Steinbeck goes to the beach to pick him up every morning like a gentleman.
Kunikida and Katai are roommates. Kunikida forced him into it to make sure he lives in decent conditions— it works like, 25% of the time. Always either a mess or squeaky clean, no in between.
I became possessed and produced this
Also this animation was mildly inspired by Perry Rata’s (on yt and tumblr) momento Mori animation so be sure to check them out too :3
(I ain’t tagging them bc I don’t think they’re in this fandom-)
Maybe I'm stretching it — idk — but does anyone else think it's mysogynistic in how Bsd women are always tied to traditional patriarchal views on women? And they lack goals of their own? Like they're well-written and have their own characters and personalities, but have you noticed a repeating pattern?
Louisa is shy and submissive, and she feels like she's nothing if Fitzgerald, a man, isn’t leading her???
Kouyou's role in the show is mostly connected to Kyouka? As in being some kind of mother figure to her? She herself doesn’t really have any other goal. You may say it's being an executive, but doesn’t she already do that? I guess she doesn’t want the pm to return to it's former form or something?
Teruko's goal is to serve justice I guess, but she already does that? And it's the same copy paste as the rest of the Hunting Dogs? And she's obsessed with Fukuchi?
Naomi is Junichirou's mischievous sister (implied they aren't actually siblings) who's kind of obsessed with him, and that is all there is to her??? Like all she wants to do is protect her brother. No individual goal for herself.
Yosano is the healer, we'll never have to worry about anything happening to the Ada because Yosano will fix them up. She's honestly just there to be a sort of plot armour. She doesn’t have an independent goal either? Other than helping in the Ada, which she already does? And that's the same as all other Ada characters? But then again she also thinks human lives are deeply important and wants to protect them, so I guess kind of a goal?
Higuchi is also fixated on Octagon, and we don't get to explore her character much? Like only one episode is dedicated to her. And I guess her goal is getting a relationship with Octagon, and serving the pm?? Serving the pm is the same as all other pm members to be honest, so no individual goal?
Kyouka has more of an individual goal, she wants to become a better person, become free, and change in her ways. Helping the Ada is an additional goal she has. But she's also quiet and shy and implied to have a crush on Atsushi?
Haruno is...just there...
Margaret puts her family above all, even herself.
Lucy's goal is to find somewhere where she belongs, with people who care for her. She has an individual goal, and she also a crush on Atsushi. But it isn’t all there is to her so I guess it isn’t really an issue.
Sasaki is the ideal japanese beauty — quiet, refined, modest, dedicated to her lover. Even after he's dead, and even though she'll always be second to his ideals. Also her whole purpose is for Kunikida's character.
Now some might say that they don't need to have complex, intricate goals, but take a look at the male characters.
Kunikida's role is to help in the Ada, sure, but he's also deeply dedicated to his ideals. His goals are to live by his ideals, even if it means sacrificing. We have so many episodes exploring this.
Atsushi's goal is to prove his worth and find a meaningful purpose in life. Like sure he helps in the Ada, but he has his own individual goal.
Even the govt. official Tonan, a character who's just barely there, has an individual goal — to avenge his father. It's separate from his job. Even Karma had an individual goal, to gain freedom.
Also, there’s nothing wrong with being shy, submissive, quiet, motherly, devotional, nurturing or refined. It's just that most, if not all, female characters fall into this category? How many male characters are obsessed with a woman relentlessly over multiple seasons and episodes, compared to the female characters? How many are nurturing, gentle and submissive compared to them?
You can't convince me that the already few female characters with little screen-time, barely having any individual goals of their own isn’t a bit sexist. Like at least unintentionally — I don't want to assume such horrible things about Asagiri. And there we have the fans babbling that Bsd is the most respectful to women all because the women don't show a lot of skin, as if showing skin was ever misogynistic.
