The Pregnancy
You didn’t want to say that it was an accident
But it kinda was
You weren’t planning on having kids right away
But you also may have been pretty relaxed about things on your honeymoon
It would be fine, you wanted kids anyway so it would be fine
You still remember the look on Jeongguk’s face when you told him the news
The poor man almost passed out
He was a little excited
But also very nervous
What did he know about being a dad?
What did he know about babies?
Naturally he did the only thing he could think of
He asked his hyungs
He learned a lot from the older members who already had children
He very excitedly tells you all of the things he learned from them
He can nag a bit a times
He wants to know if you’ve taken your prenatal vitamins and he takes you to very appointment
He just wants to make sure you’re okay
As your belly grows so does his excitement
He talks to the baby all the time in a sweet little voice that makes you laugh
He’s more and more ready to be a dad every day
L&D
He panics
Like just a little
He’s been looking forward to this day for months but some part of him is still very shook that it’s actually here
He kind of freezes when you tell him that your water broke
You have to snap him out of it but then he rushes you to the car
You almost forget to grab your hospital bag on the way out
He drives more carefully than you’ve ever seen him drive
But also just a little quick because he doesn’t want yo giving birth in the car
“Babe, you know there’s a while to wait between the water breaking and having the baby, right?”
“Yeah, you told me that, but still.”
He’s more relaxed once you’re in your hospital room
He goes over your breath exercise again more for himself than for you
And he keeps asking the nurses and doctors for updates all day
He’s still a little surprised when he hears that it’s time to push
You grab onto his hand with a death grip and he only whines a little
He encourages you with every push
He tells you that you’re doing an amazing job
He only loses his concentration on you when he hears his baby boy cry for the first time
He watches as they pass you your son and he’s never been more in love in his life
Newborn Moments
You notice pretty quickly that your son has the same smile as his father
The notice the first time you see it and it almost makes you cry
Your son is a big, happy baby
He smiles a lot and you refuse to believe it’s from gas
He gurgles and babbles and makes all kinds of sounds
Jeongguk is so proud of him from the start
He tells everyone you know about how well his son sleeps
And how he has such a strong little grip
“He’s gonna be strong, just like his father”
He loves to play with his son
Even when he’s fussy he likes to hold him and talk to him
He still uses the same funny voice he did when from when you were pregnant
Half of why he does it is because he can always hear you giggling from the other room
He plans so much for his son as he grows
He wants to introduce him to sports and art and everything under the sun
He already has plans to have his son sing on a song with him when he’s old enough to talk
He sings him lullabies that calm him down so quickly
He had so much love in his eyes whenever he looks at his son
He loves his family with all his heart
