insomnia is generally defined as a common sleep disorder, characterized by persistent difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, and sometimes even waking up too early. it can result in poor-quality or insufficient sleep, causing daytime fatigue, reduced concentration and irritability.
however, if one's been dealing with it for years now, the system can be tricked. whenever your body refuses to rest, which happens too often for your liking, you make the sleep-deprived nights worthy of existing. everything has a meaning in this life: being insomniac won't stop you from applying to the stem program at the new york university.
the night hours have become your best companions, keeping you sheltered in their warm enclosures. while everybody else gives in to sleep, bodies relaxing and minds drifting off, your own brain neglects you this pleasure. so, in exchange, you've resigned to it, opting instead to do something useful in these long hours.
the inexplicable and unpredictable destiny's wheel starts its rotation on one of these occasions. the clock's about to tick 4am, and the soft glow of the moon reflects its gentle light through your window and onto your bedroom's floor. your cat, soonie, is sleeping on your bedroom, purring like she always does when she's deep in her doze. the only sound that interrupts the stillness is the typing of your fingers on the pc's keyboard, and the occasional scratch of the pen on the paper when you write something down.
these kind of nights are the ones that make you think that your inability to fall asleep like a normal being is not such a bad thing, in the end.
your phone tings on your night table, illuminating for a second the ceiling above. you ignore it, because at this point you're deep in the flow state of learning, brain too focused to even consider getting up to answer a text. you'll think about in the morning.
unfortunately, the universe has other plans for you. the phone tings a few more times, and it almost seems that the notification sound is getting more and more aggressive, like it's responding to your indifference. around the fourth, irritating buzz, you give in. getting up from the chair feels like stretching your bones after being stuck in bed for days, unable to change position. you reach to grab the phone, and then quietly step out of your room. might as well take advantage of this unplanned break and get some water, while you're at it.
the house is silent, and your steps echo down the stairs: for once, your brother isn't wasting the night playing league of legends with his brainless friends. the kitchen is dark, illuminated only by the moon outside, so you use the flash on your phone to open the sideboard and grab a glass, quickly pouring some water in it and closing the panel right away, before accidentally hitting anything and waking your family.
leaning on the kitchen aisle, you resolve to read the texts. you expect them to be from your best friend, vee, who likes to asks for advice on what to do with her idiot boyfriend when she should be sleeping. as if you could truly help her: all the relationships you've had in these almost 17 years of life have been either ridicolous, or toxic.
surprise overcomes you, when you see the sender. then, irritation follows: you've really interrupted your studying session to answer kim taehyung? what is he even doing awake at this hour?
kim taehyung: hi sweetheart
kim taehyung: i know u are because ur brother told me about your insomnia
kim taehyung: i swear it's important
kim taehyung: if you're pretending to sleep i'm going to be very offended
you close your eyes, sighing. you will answer taehyung, and then suffocate your brother in his sleep. now that tae knows about your night time habits, he won't be leaving you alone. wasn't bothering you during the daytime hours not enough for him? when he's over to play with your brother, you can't even come out of your room without him intercepting you, using any possible excuse to annoy you and the disappear back into your brothers' room. to say that you can't stand him would be an understatement.
kim taehyung: wow calm down
kim taehyung: you're so friendly at this hour of the night
a smile involuntarily tugs at your mouth.
you: i'll ghost u if u don't tell me in the next 5 seconds
kim taehyung: you'd never ghost me
kim taehyung: sweetheart?
kim taehyung: omg i hate u
you: not as much as i hate u
kim taehyung: i've got a chem test next week
you: would be crazy if u actually showed up
kim taehyung: yeah i know
kim taehyung: on a more important note, are u free tomorrow after school?
you: isn't it too soon to ask me on a date?
kim taehyung: keep dreaming sweetie
you: come over around 6pm
kim taehyung: i'll talk with jk tomorrow after practice
kim taehyung: show some respect to the elderly
you: i've got no respect for u but ok
kim taehyung: night sweetie
you don't answer his final text. instead, you put the empty glass in the sink and climb the stairs back to your room. the clock ticks 4.20am, and you're torn between revising some more time, or try and get a couple hours of sleep before school. you turn the pc off, and join soonie in bed, slipping under the covers and storing your phone away in the night table.
a flicker of excitement lights up in your stomach at the thought of a possible future date with jungkook, but you try your best to ignore it. nothing's sure, anyway. you should better focus on dozing off, instead of indulging in these useless hopes.
vee stretches her arms over her head, sighing so loudly she's surely going to get a reprimand from the teacher. strangely, mr. fox doesn't say anything, opting instead to ignore her loud yawn and continue with his lesson, apparently unbothered.
'how are you so lucky? he never reprimends you' you scoff, under your breath. vee smiles, the corners of her mouth turning up in a grin, and puts her fist under her chin.
'he's so got a thing for me' she says, in a wicked tone. you arch a brow, smiling nonetheless. 'be for real, please' you laugh.
the bell rings, saving you from enduring another minute of this boring lesson. a collective sigh of relief seems to be coming from all your classmates too, and some are already walking through the door, and towards freedom.
smiling, you think about your plans for the night: takeout sushi, some stupidly corny romance movies, green tea, and soonie. vee's rambling about what she'll do tonight, as you collect your things. 'ok, wait, stop. i don't want to hear about any kind of physical activies you and steve have planned' you hold your hand up. 'don't be so stiff, baby!' she replies, nudging you lightly in the shoulder. 'when are going to spice your life up a little bit?' she asks. she actually seems genuine, so you try your best not to roll your eyes.
'unless there's damon salvatore waiting for me at home, my life will remain unbothered, by now' you say, getting out of the classroom.
'damon salvatore? please, i'm much hotter'.
taehyung's voice breaks you out of your dreamy thoughts about tonight. he's leaning against the wall, and is clear he'd been waiting for you. you close your eyes, defeated.
'wow, okay, what's going on?' vee asks, brows raised in a skeptical look. you still haven't had a moment to tell her about the pact you and tae stipulated, so her question makes sense.
'we-' you start saying, but taehyung interrupts you immediately.
'we've got a passionate night ahead of us, don't we, sweetie?' he says, throwing an arm over your shoulder and tugging you closer to him. you grunt, elbowing him and freeing yourself from his grip.
'shut it, idiot' you scoff. turning to vee, you explain in a few words what you have to do, and what tae has promised in return. she's the only one (beside the asshole standing beside you) who knows about your crush. she beames when she hears about the possible future date.
'i shall start thinking about some maid of honor outfits, then' she says, smiling. this time, you can't avoid rolling your eyes. 'for sure, yeah, keep being this positive' you answer.
she laughs, and waves you bye, merging into the crowd that's heading towards the doors. then, when she's gone, you turn and face taehyung. the expression on your face wipes away his smug look fast enough.
'the only passionate thing you'll get tonight will be a hot date with the periodic table, idiot' you groan.
'you're good at dirty talking' he grins, teasing.
'shut up' you scoff, and then turn away. he follows up, steps quickly aligning to yours.
you knew that taehyung wasn't the smartest boy in the whole world, but you surely weren't expecting him to be such an idiot. you put your hands to your face, defeated.
'c'mon, it can't look that bad' he tries, but his voice is sheepish.
you're both sitting on your bed, and soonie is sleeping on top of your desk. she looked very much offended when you woke her up from her nap to move her from the bed, but you had no other places to go. your brother and his girlfriend were already occupying the living room, sprawled out on the couch, which meant that you and tae had to find another room to use for the studying session.
when he entered your room, a vague realisation creeped up in the back of your mind: he's never been between these four walls before. it felt weird having him in your personal space, his shoes next to yours on the floor, his jacket draped over the back of the chair, and him sitting on your bed. he suddenly looked too tall to sit there, which was strange. you pushed these thoughts away, blaming them to the sleepless night you've had, and asked tae to show you his last chem test.
'this is not bad. it's disastrous' you whine. tae sighs, throwing himself back into your pillows.
'but you're not totally a lost cause' you add, after a moment. he springs back up, a playful smile on his lips. 'don't deceive me, woman' he laughs.
'oh, shut up. get your notebook. we've got a lot of work to do, if you want to pass the next test' you nudge him in the shoulder.
surprisingly, as the hours pass, you find that taehyung is really not a lost cause. not completely, at least. it actually looks like his biggest problem, as of now, is his total lack of motivation and discipline. overall, he's got the brains, and if only he didn't ultimately focus only on football and playing call of duty, he'd sure be a great student. but you won't tell him this, not until he's passed at least one test. you wouldn't want to excite him too much.
around 7pm, you announce it's time for a break. tae almost cries from pure joy at this, launching his pencil on the floor. his hair is all messed up, and he's got his glasses on, the ones he never wears out because he thinks they'll make him look like a nerd. you think that he would never look like a nerd, even if he wanted to do. he's too cocky to even try.
'hey, have you talked to jungkook?' you ask, reaching for your phone.
'no, uhm- i'm sorry, he was in a rush after practice and i didn't catch him in time' he says, scratching his head.
'oh, no problem' you shrug your shoulders, checking to see if anyone texted you. vee has sent you a couple tiktoks, but you'll check them later. when you raise your head, you find taehyung looking at you. he quickly averts his gaze, focusing on a certain point in the floor's wood.
the next days pass in a blur. taehyung comes over everyday, including the weekend, and, between desperate tries and liters of green tea, you slowly start to see some progress. exactly as you thought, he just needed some discipline. with someone monitoring him, he doesn't have any excuse to get distracted, which means that he spent five times more the time he usually does on the textbook. by the time thursday rolls around, you're pretty sure he's going to pass his test. that is, if he doesn't tragically forget everything he's learned.
his chem test in on third period, right before lunch. you couldn't text him that morning, because you were busy with your english literature group, working on your next project. as soon as the third period's bell rang, you collected your things and sprinted to the chemistry's lab. you get there, panting slightly, wondering if you should improve your gym routine, when the lab's door opens and the students flow out. between the crowd of seniors, someone bumps into you, not noticing your frame next to the door. you turn to face the guilty, brushing your shoulder, but stop right away. the scolding you had ready to spit out dies in your throat, leaving you incapable of talking.
jungkook. he bumped into you.
and instead of mindlessly walking away, he stopped, and was looking at you. his eyes were slightly narrowed, as if to get a better look at you. he bit his lip, the one with the piercing, and he looked so sexy doing it that you were sure you were going to fall to your knees.
'uh, i'm sorry... what's your name again?' he asks, not breaking eye contact. you probably look like a total psycho, right now.
'y/n' you let out in a fickle voice. oh, for fuck's sake.
he nods, humming. 'sorry for bumping into you, y/n' he repeats, and your name rolls on his tongue and out of his mouth in such a good way you're definitely going to fall to your knees now.
jungkook is gone quickly than your eyes realise, and once he merges into the crowd in the corridor, you snap out of your trance. great. you just made a terrible first impression on him. he surely won't ever want to go out with you, now.
sighing, you turn to the lab's door, and bump into someone once again.
'oh, c'mon- ' you grunt, rubbing your forehead.
'sweetie, are you stalking me?'
taehyung is the second idiot of today that slams into you, and surely, the next one will give you a broken nose.
'no, i was just curious to hear about the test!' your protest is muffled by taehyung's sudden embrace. you're taken aback for a moment by the feeling of his arms wrapped around you, bodies pressed together, his cologne everywhere.
then, you hesitantly reciprocate. destiny's wheel unlocks further once you're fully hugging each other, for the first time.
'i don't want to jinx it, but i'm almost sure i've got at least a B-' he says, squeezing a little more and then letting go of you. a minuscule part of your brain registers the absence of contact and protests a little.
'really?' you beam, genuinely content at the news. both for him, and both for you: you can already sense the extra credits coming your way.
'totally aced this shit, baby' he grins, throwing his arm over your shoulder playfully. you let him do it, only this time, because it's clear that he's very happy, and you don't want to ruin his mood.
and indeed, when the next monday his teacher hands the tests back, he finds a bright B shining on his paper.
when he tells you, you surprise yourself once more and lean in first to hug him.
'that's great news, tae! i told you you could do it, idiot!' you nudge his shoulder. he grins, smug and cocky as always, but if you're not mistaken, there's a sincere tone in his eyes this time.
'mr. thompson said that 'one test is not enough to consider yourself an excellent graduate!'' he recited, voice pitching enough to resemble the teacher's. you snorted out a laugh, because he was incredibly good at imitations.
'well, i guess that means i'm going to have to endure your annoying presence in my life some more' you roll your eyes, half joking, half not. he scoffs, messing his hair up a bit.
'you love me' he retorts.
'i despise you' you answer.
you look up from your french homeworks, backbone complaining loudly from being stuck in the same position for hours now. you grunt, stretching your arms over your head and glancing at the clock. shit, it's almost 7pm. taehyung is supposed to come over in thirty minutes, to have a game night with your brother. you predict a long, sleepless night in which unfortunately you'll hear their swears in the background.
your brother is leaning on your doorframe, phone in hand and glasses up on his head.
'what do you want, jake?' you ask, mind already running to the leftovers you're surely will have to finish up for dinner. you hate leftovers. unfortunately, your parents planned a weekend trip and you've never been good at cooking, which leaves you with little to no choice. leftovers are the only solution to not die of starvation.
'i'm going over at anna's tonight, last minute planning' he briefly explains, half turned towards the corridor.
'wait. weren't you supposed to have a game night with tae?' you ask. in the back of your mind, you're beginning to understand where this conversation's going.
'yeah, but you know, anna's mom is not home tonight. so-'
'stop. stop right there. okay. i got it. just tell tae to not come over, i guess' you say, hands flying up to halt your brother from telling you anything about what he does with his girlfriend when they're not being supervised.
'it's too late, he's already on his way. just stay with him, i don't know, teach him some more chemistry things' he waves a hand, the other one checking his phone.
'no, wait- what? why do i have to be with that idiot? he's your friend' you protest, a shocked expression on your features.
'and he's also your student' he retorts, brows raised.
your brother checks his watch, regardless of your words.
'i'm going now. just don't do anything that's sex related. at least, don't do it in the living room' he laughs, turning to walk away.
you reach for the first thing you can grab (an empty water bottle) and throw it with as much force as you can gather on his head.
he disappears, laughing, and you soon hear his car driving off the driveway.
you drop your head in your hands, defeated. great, just great.
'okay, that is not what we're having for dinner'.
taehyung slams the fridge door shut, scoffing.
you're sitting on one of the kitchen aisle's stools, perched up and watching him pace across the area. he opens up a few cabinets, and his expression drops more and more with each discomforting absence of edible food.
'i'm not very good at cooking' you state, simply.
'yeah, i kinda guessed that' he grunts, closing the last cabinet and turning to look at you.
'can i order takeout now?' you ask, hope filtering in your words.
he resigns, waving a hand and closing his eyes.
you grin, and pull your phone out.
two hours later, you're sprawled on the couch, bodies weighed down by the post-dinner exhaustion. there are empty boxes of thai food scattered around the space, on the coffee table and a couple even on the floor. love is blind is playing on the tv, and the only sound that can be heard on the house is your occasional giggles at the scenes happening. the air in the room is soft, tonight: there's no pressure, and no trace of the usual bantering that occurs upon being with taehyung.
what actually surprised you the most was that, at some point during the night, soonie had come out of her self imposed imprisonment in your room and ventured into the house. she followed you and tae around for a bit, and then, she climbed up on the couch and settled onto his lap. your antisocial cat, who hates every single human being in this whole world but you, is peacefully sleeping on a man's lap. on taehyung's lap.
around 11pm, destiny's divine wheel rolls forward some more. unable to resist the unfamiliar tiredness settling in your bones, you sink further into the couch. following a strangely quiet feeling, you drop your head on tae's shoulder, body giving in to exhaustion.
taehyung, on a totally new note, doesn't protest. instead, he adjusts his position a bit, and in between the movements, your head falls deeper down, and you're fully resting against him now. he gently brushes back a strand of your hair that fell in front of your face, and that's the last thing you perceive, before falling asleep.
when you wake up the next morning, you're alone. soonie is sleeping on one side of the couch, and judging by the absence of any noise in the house, you're the only human being between these walls. frowning, you motion to get up, glancing at the clock on the wall. it's 7am. you slept for 8 hours, without once waking up. when was the last time that happened? you don't remember.
there's a note on the coffee table. your hearts does a funny little cartwheel in your chest upon recognising taehyung's familiar handwriting.
hey, i'm sorry for leaving you alone. my mom called and said she needed my help with something, but i cleaned up the mess from last night.
there wasn't anything that could cross a line, in fact, it was a pretty much straightforward note. you smile anyway, and pull your phone out of the couch's cushions.
kim taehyung: you saw my note?
you: thanks for cleaning up
kim taehyung: btw i texted jk when i woke up
kim taehyung: told him i needed to talk to him about something so he's coming over
kim taehyung: i'll tell you how it goes as soon as i can
you: wow omg thanks so much
it's not until later that day that tae texts you again. you went out for a brief walk, trying to absorb some vitamin d, took a shower, and blow dried your hair. you're busy trying to figure out a way to make leftovers look tasty, when your phone tings
kim taehyung: he said yes
you laugh. then, freeze. a creeping understanding crawls up your spine.
because, for some unknown reason, something had shifted in your life when you woke up this morning. you should just blame it on the fact that you haven't had a full nights sleep in too long. but it doesn't matter, in the end, because the truth still exists just beneath the surface.
it's too soon for it to be an actual fact. it's just a feeling, for now.
and what is worrying you the most, is the fact that you're not as excited anymore to go out on a date with jungkook.
taehyung had said the date was planned for the next friday. that meant that there were still 7 days to go, 7 unbearably long days, between you and the man of your dreams.
jungkook. when you thought about him, heat swelled up in your stomach, warming you from the inside and making you blush like crazy. you've been head over heels for him for years, now, since you were a freshman. so yes, it was a dream come true to go out with him.
but you couldn't deny the raising, unstoppable emotions that you fought back (or tried to) everytime tae was in your proximity. or every time you thought of him, which at this point is almost always.
these were totally different feelings from the ones that jungkook evoked: they were slowly building up, instead of bursting like fireworks and dying in a short time. and then, there was another important point to consider: you fell asleep next to taehyung. you, who's been suffering from insomnia for years, fell asleep next to someone. and not just anyone: your brother's annoyingly irritating best friend.
but was he that much irritating?
the week that follows your sleepover with taehyung feels uncomfortably weird. you try your best to act normal: you go to school, do your homeworks, go out with vee and argue with jake. however, tae's busy the whole week with extra practice before his next match, which incidentally fell on the same day as your date with jungkook. apparently, jk was going to skip the match to go out with you. you hadn't realised that the dates coincided, until taehyung intercepted you before your french class.
'hey, sweetie' he said, catching up with you in the crowded hallway.
your heart skipped too many beats for your liking at the sound of his voice.
'hi' you said, not slowing down your pace. in fact, you accelerated.
taehuyung's voice was very much casual, in fact it sounded like he was trying his best to avoid sounding like anything other than fully relaxed.
'what's on friday?' you asked, frowning. you didn't like the fact that your mind seemed to be slipping everywhere, since the sleepover, unable to focus properly.
'my match' he said, simply.
you smiled, nonetheless, and stopped walking. he easily matched your movements, and now you were the only ones standing still in between the crowd of people moving in every direction.
'would you want me there?' you asked, teasing.
had he always been this close to your body? there was little to no distance between you two.
'if i say i do you'll come?' he replied, voice suddenly low and raspy.
you open your mouth to say that you'll come, if he wants you to, but stop immediately.
'fuck... the date' you murmured.
you've wanted this for so long. so why are you so disappointed now? what's happening to you?
his expression crumbled for a second too long. then, he quickly constructed it back, restoring his usual smug expression.
'no problem, baby. have fun'
you felt your stomach twist into a tight knot.
when friday rolls around, you're too anxious to keep up your 'act normal' behaviour. you skip school, preferring instead to rot in your bed all day. you tell yourself that it's because you want to be well rested before tonight: in reality, you just don't want to see taehyung. are you running away from your responsibilities? yeah, maybe. but it feels much easier seeking refuge in between the four walls of your room, instead of venturing out.
your mind is buzzing with thoughts that become more persistent with each second that ticks by. you pull the ultimate move out, which consists in a two hour long everything shower. it drains the life from you, but works its miracle: your thoughts have been forcefully quieted down.
7.45pm strikes. you're fully dressed, even wearing your favourite heels, and pacing the living room like a caged lion.
7.59pm. the doorbell rings and you quite literally jump out of your skin.
jungkook looks like your next racing star, who's just come out from a fashion magazine. he looks like he's ready to steal someone's daughter and never give her back. he's so undeniably hot, and that's a fact. what's new, is that you don't feel much behind that.
yeah, he's hot. his black shirt reveals his tattoos, which only give him a few more points in the bad boy competition, and he's biting his pierced lip, in a move carefully studied to be attractive.
'you're beautiful' he says, simply.
as he escorts you to his car, he even opens the passenger door for you, which looks strangely unfit for his character. nonetheless, you appreciate this gesture a lot.
the drive to the restaurant is quiet. traffic isn't too crazy tonight, so it doesn't take as long as you thought to get there. talking with him is surprisingly easy, you realise. he doesn't need to unravel all your secrets, and neither he makes your heart explode with one single look.
wait, is this a good thing?
you find yourself laughing at his jokes, especially when he tells you about the time he accidentally asked out a senior's steady girlfriend back in his sophomore year.
yes, it's easy being with him. so easy, that at some point, you unvoluntarily drop your defences. your barriers come down, and jungkook takes less than a minute to fully read your face.
at this point in the night, you're almost done with dinner. he smiles, an unknown look on his face.
'hey, can i tell you something?' he asks, rotating his wine glass in his hand.
you frown, putting your fork down. you've finished eating a while ago, but you were mindlessly rotating the cutlery on the plate.
'yeah, i guess' you answer, a little more wary now.
he leans forward, forearms on the table, tilting his head to a side. you feel strangely observed, but it doesn't make you feel uncomfortable in any way. it's nice being with jungkook.
'when tae told me he knew a girl he could set me up with, i was a little taken aback. see, he's never really been interested in girls matters, to the point where i began to ask him if he wanted to end up a spinster, alone for his whole life. i asked him to show me a photo of this girl, and he pulled out the most majestic photo i've ever seen of anyone'.
'he told me he took this photo while you were distracted, because he thought you looked much better in photos when you didn't know someone was taking them. i immediately thought you were beautiful. then, i looked at him, and realised something important. something that i'm sure neither he or you yourself want to admit'.
he stops, sipping some wine. your heart is thumping so loudly in your chest you're sure it might burst out of your ribcage at any moment.
'my friend was setting me up with a girl he was madly in love with. i didn't know why he was doing it, but he definitely was. now, i know, i still agreed to take you out on a date, and i don't regret it. you're funny, y/n, you're pretty and i think we could be great friends, because we get along quite well. however, the main reason as to why i wanted to spend these hours with you was because i wanted to see if you reciprocated his feelings' he stops, then.
you sigh, shoulders dropping.
'how come you know me so well, asshole?' you murmur, hands flying up to cover your face, which you're sure is now totally red.
'you're not easy to read, if that makes you feel better. you hide your secrets very well, in fact, but as i said, i feel like we get along. i'm happy to consider you as a friend, if you'd like' he finishes his glass of wine, no bitterness in his voice.
you uncover your face, and smile.
'i'll take you home, now. don't you have a 9pm curfew?' he asks, teasing.
'i'm sorry, who do you think you are? you're the elder here' you reply, rolling your eyes.
the warm water of the shower hits your skin, endless drops gently rolling down your shoulders, onto your back and down to the floor. the steam has formed a solid haze in the bathroom, making you feel like you're in your own world. while you and jungkook were in the restaurant, it started raining: unfortunately, he hadn't parked his car in a spot close to the place, because they were all taken already, which meant that you had to run all the way back and by the time you got in, you were both drenched from head to toes.
a warm shower was indeed much in order, even more so because your brother had texted you saying he was going to spend the night at his girlfriend's house again.
you carefully dry your hair, taking your time with it, and even blow drying it at the end. there wasn't a real use in doing this, but you felt like it. ever since your almost-confession at the restaurant, a quiet awareness settled into your bones.
you were feeling what was generally defined as 'the fattest crush ever' on kim taehyung. what jungkook has said, about his certainty that tae reciprocated your feelings (or rather, that you reciprocated his) had butterflies flying like crazy in your stomach.
there wasn't anything you could do. feelings or not, taehyung's been giving you the cold shoulder the entire week. besides, you didn't even attend his match. he sure wasn't feeling anything positive towards you now.
these were the kind of pessimistic thoughts that were lazily floating around in your head, when the doorbell rang that fateful friday night.
your steps falter, hand still hovering over the stair balustrade. soonie was sleeping on the couch, but raised her head at the sound.
the doorbell rings again, breaking the stillness in the air with a sharp sound.
sighing, you go to open it, shoving your somber mood aside. who dares to destroy your peaceful despair?
the door opens to reveal none other than kim taehyung. he's standing right outside of the doorframe, no more than a few inches from you. however, it's still raining outside, and he looks like he just ran forty miles under this flood.
'y/n. sweetheart. am i interrupting anything?' he says, voice frantically low.
'no, i'm alone, but tae, you're drenched-'
'so jungkook's not here with you?' he says, and he's got something in his eyes. a glint that you've never seen before.
'no, i said i'm alone, what don't you understand?'
'good, good. because if i don't do this now, i won't ever do it again'
taehyung has dragged you to him, with such an intensity that there's nothing left to wonder about. his lips press against yours, zero hesitancy in his gestures, hands flying up to cradle your neck, in a way that feels far too intimate for you two, and at the same time, entirely right. tongues are flying together, battling for dominance, neither of you wanting to back down.
your hands fly up to his hair, tugging him closer. the rain is pouring down from the sky, in what now look like tears of pure joy cascading into your entangled mouths, and you're drenched once more. unsurprisingly, you couldn't give a fuck about it, in fact, you don't care about anything that isn't taehyung absolutely devouring you.
you break off the kiss just to tug him into the house, then, with some amazing gymnastics movements, he manages to turn you over and press you against the door, closing it shut. he's all up on you now, bodies pressed together but not close enough for your liking.
he breaks off the kiss, and walks back one step. just one, but it seems like it's too far from you anyway.
'i can't do this, not before i let you know just how deep my feelings for you run' he says, with an exceedingly peculiar look on his face. his brows are slightly furrowed, his lips swollen red from the frantic kisses.
'i couldn't help but fall desperately for you as soon as i laid my eyes on you. there was no helping it, no way out. you were always so breathtakingly beautiful, and even just by looking at you i felt like i was ascending to a higher something. i know that i never talk like this, and i don't mean to scare you. i just want you to know that every single inch of my body desires you, and not just in a physical way. if you don't want me, tell me now. because i can't keep on kissing you if i'm being mistaken about your feelings' he stops, then, and his breathing has gotten loud and quick.
there is no trace of anxiety in your body. instead, in its place come a sense of steadiness, swelling up in your stomach and warming you up. you've rarely felt this secure about something as you are now: there's absolutely not a single bone in your being that doesn't reciprocate taehyung's feelings.
that's the reason why you move easily, steps never faltering.
you cup his cheeks with your hands, gently, and press your mouths together once more, this time with more delicacy. he melts into the kiss, tugging you closer by your waist. it feels incredibly right to be this close to him.
'you moved a constellation into my heart'
you don't remember where you read this phrase, or maybe someone told you, but you don't care. it popped up in your head, out of nowhere, and it resembles perfectly the intensity of your feelings for taehyung.
your bodies press together, one shaped to fit the other in an undeniably perfect way. his teeth are skating along your bottom lip, grazing the skin like he's been dying to taste you.
time moves in a strange way. it could feel like hours have passed, and it's been a few seconds; or it could feel like you've spent no more than an hour with someone, and it's actually been an entire evening.
you find yourself in your room, slightly remembering the frenetic steps up the stairs and into the hallway, blindly looking for your bedroom's door.
you tug at the hem of his disheveled shirt, and feel him grin against your mouth. he pulls back, and in a second, the shirt's gone, and your hands are firmly pressing against his chest. his skin is pleasantly warm, and you lose yourself in the lean muscles that form his figure, as he impatiently rips your shirt off and tugs at your bra straps. you bite his bottom lip, teasingly, and he laughs, a quiet, rumbling laugh that pulses down between your legs.
he's walking you back, and when your thighs hit the mattress, you fall down into the bed, bringing him with you. he moves to kiss your neck, lips leaving hot kisses on your skin.
the cold air hits your body, and you know that he's managed to make your pajamas pants disappear. luckily for him, you don't mind at all. in fact, you're more than happy about this new evolution in things, once he easily makes his way down your body and drops his head between your legs. he blows a hot puff of air into your soaked core, and that alone is almost enough to arch your back. he's smiling, knowing the effect he has on you.
his tongue is torturing you, moving ever so slowly against your pussy. one hand rests on your thigh, squeezing the skin with such tender force you're sure you'll find signs of that in the morning.
a stifled moan escapes your mouth as he hovers over your clit for just a second, before dipping back in and sucking on it.
your breath hitches in your throat, and you're fully moaning now, shamelessly tugging at his soft hair. either you're too easy for him, or he's just too good to you, but you're quickly driven to the edge, back arching and thighs squeezing his face.
what's even crazier is, he's not at all done with you.
your racing heart matches his, as he comes up back up again and slams his mouth into you. this is a total different side from the one you usually see: he's not the idiot, slightly nerdy guy you've always known. right now, he is nothing more than a beast, hunting you down like a famelic predator.
'baby...' he murmurs against your skin, kissing your love handles like he's never wanted to anything but this.
'baby, i want to be inside you. please'
your words seem to have disappeared in some hidden corner of your mind, so you just nod, eagerly.
when he slips inside your core, fitting surprisingly easy, it is a war fought on bedsheets. his pace is excruciatingly slow, in the beginning, and it's clear he's taken a liking in torturing you. but at some point, a row snaps inside him, and he gets faster, and he's fucking you raw at this point. it's a collide of bodies, and something in you splinters.
his hips are drawing tormenting thrusts, and it's so good to have him inside you. your nails drag against the skin of his back, unforgiving and coarse. he whines at the feeling, strands of hair falling on your forehead.
when he comes, he simultaneously drives you to the edge. back arching once more, his name on your lips, muscles crashing down, with the force of bodies and souls kept too long apart.
