Florist!Bucky

He was never fit to be a florist; good thing he wasn’t getting paid. Still, he could never understand why the pretty shop owner kept him around.

Backstory drabble under the cut.

After months spent grieving his best friend, Bucky longed for a distraction—a taste of normalcy, perhaps. So, with a fresh face and an equally fresh mindset, he walked through your open door and applied to volunteer. 

Of course, you accepted with ease—hadn’t yet told him why—only for him to get in the way at every chance he got.

Blame it on the butterflies in his stomach. He was distracted.

He’d stumble around, forget orders, mix up flowers, and would never—for the life of him—be able to remember their damn names... save for lilies, like the one you’d stuck in his hair. He’d always remember those.

As for you... you were everything. 

Patient, kind, collected. Took his breath away the day he first stumbled into your humble shop. Stole his heart his first day on the job.

—and kept it with you ever since.
