Little native bee anthro sketch! I'm trying to find a medium between accuracy and stylization. I want to get to the point where people can identify my characters down to species just from the drawing. If you can successfully tell what this is, extra brownie points to you! (I'll reveal the species in a couple of days anyway.) Hint: assume this bee lives natively in the northeastern US.
Whump Prompt List: Bugfolk Whumpee
Bugfolk whumpee trying to overcome a nasty sting from another bug-like creature. The venom left them partially paralyzed, and they're only beginning to stir by the time caretaker finds them.
A territorial bugfolk was wounded trying to protect their hive/den/colony.
A venomous bugfolk is being hunted down out of fear of the threat they could pose to humans (or the value of their venomous resource).
Caretaker comes across a bugfolk whumpee who can no longer fly due to their wings being wet from a terrible storm
Bugfolk whumpee hides from humans, fearful of them. They are completely convinced that humans will kill and torture them, so when they're greatly wounded, they do everything in their animalistic instincts to keep caretaker/whumper away.
Bugfolk are often captured by people for illegal fighting. Whumpee happens to be one of these bugfolk.
A bugfolk whumpee is overworked for their silk. They are forced to weave and refine the material day in and day out, their hands cramping and their body exhausted of producing the material.
Caretaker found time and time again fruit, flowers, and vegetables missing from their garden. Eventually the creature taking their stuff is discovered collapsed in the garden.
Today we've got remastered thri-kreen and coleo, a bugfolk race for my homebrew world.
Tentative design for moth (New) Moon.
I wanted to keep it relatively simple, but the wings are giving me trouble. Might change them in the future.
Also, fun fact! Some mothfolk will fashion sections of their silk cocoons into clothing as keepsakes from their metamorphosis. That’s where Moon’s hat came from. Old Moon didn’t have a hat since he was a butterfly and couldn’t spin silk. At least, not at first.
Return of the monster doodles.
As of yet unnamed Thri Kreen. I love her. She has 100% eaten someone's face off before.
